  • Leo – Photo 1 of 1

    Leo

    €60adoption fee

    Cat · 4 years · Female

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Leo is a lovely 4 year old cat who is used to living as an indoor-only pet. She is looking for a new home because her family are about to move house and cannot take her with them. She is neutered and all her vaccinations are up to date. Leo is looking for a home where she will stay as an inside pet. If it is a very safe, rural environment away from a busy road she may, in time, be able to explore outside. She is an easy, affectionate cat who has been living with a sibling up til now. The siblings recently have not been getting on well (since neutering) so it has been decided to rehome them separately so that they can each enjoy all of their owner’s attention and have space of their own. If you would like to apply to adopt lovely Lilly, please fill out the adoption questionnaire on the website. Please note, Lilly is still based with her family in East Cork so anyone who applies would need to know it will be in East Cork they will need to meet her.

    Wally

    €200adoption fee

    Spaniel · 9 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Wally is a 9yr old neutered Springer Spaniel. He acts his shoesize not his age, he has a lot of energy but loves cuddles and would make a superb walking partner or for a family with older children. He has been living with another dog for most of his life and after an introduction he should get on well with another dog. He is housetrained and will listen to commands like ‘sit’ and ‘come’ (though he does get overexcited sometimes). He LOVES socks and finding things you thought you lost! Wally loves to play, and is a really happy boy when a ball is involved- though his first love is exploring and sniffing anywhere he can get to. A home in a rural envirnment where he would have a nice sized garden to explore, sniff and play ball would be perfect for him! He isnt keen on being left alone so would benefit from someone that is largely around to apply for Wally, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals

  • Barnaby – Photo 1 of 1

    Barnaby

    €200adoption fee

    Lurcher · 5 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Handsome Barnaby is an approx 5 year old lurcher who came to the centre having been found straying around West Cork Barnaby is extremely mellow, he rarely goes mad for zoomies, just jogs along contentedly around the fields. He is a dream to walk onlead – very mannerly, no pulling or straining. Barnaby is fine with other dogs but we have no history for him around cats so we will aim for a home with no cats (we presume he has been used for hunting in the past). He is becoming a huge fan of a cosy bed and also of toys, he would be fine to be left for several leaving hours a day. Barnaby’s only issue is around food. In his past he probably needed to grab food from wherever possible and this has formed bad habits. We are working on it but unfortunately it will affect the age of children with whom he can be rehomed. Older sensible teenagers minimum for Barnaby – at least until we have him being more patient and gentle with treats and meals. If you would like to offer Barnaby a loving home, please read the Adoption Process on our website and apply using the Adoption Questionnaire.

  • Morty and Dana – Photo 1 of 1
    Pair

    Morty and Dana

    €200adoption fee

    Jack Russell

    Co. Cork, Ireland

“🐾 Bonded Pair Seeking a Home Together – Morty & Dana 🐾 Please note: Morty and Dana are a bonded pair and must stay together. They are very attached to one another and will not be rehomed separately. Morty is an approximately 8-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who has been with his owner since he was a puppy. He is affectionate, energetic, curious, and loves being close to people. He enjoys running in fields, exploring outdoors, learning basic commands, and is highly food-motivated. Morty can become vocal when left alone initially, but settles after a while. He would thrive in a home that can give him regular walks, structure, and stimulation. Dana is a 13-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who is affectionate, playful, and loves comfort. Her favourite things include burrowing under blankets, tug-of-war games, and digging in the garden when she suspects there are rodents nearby. She prefers having her own bed and food space and can growl at Morty if he gets too close during those moments. Dana would benefit from gentle exercise and enrichment to help keep her active and engaged. Both dogs would suit a home experienced with terriers and able to provide routine, attention, stimulation, and secure outdoor space. They would especially appreciate a home with a large, secure grassy garden where they can safely run around and enjoy outdoor time. They are both neutered/spayed. Vaccinations are currently not up to date. This is a very difficult decision, and the priority is finding the right long-term home where they will receive the time, care, exercise, and affection they deserve To apply for Morty and Dana, please fill in the adoption questionnaire

  • Tango – Photo 1 of 1

    Tango

    €200adoption fee

    Lurcher · 5 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Tango is a 5 year old saluki lurcher who is a real favourite of everyone at the rescue. He is so beautiful and gentle, but he also gets a regular dose of the giddies which leads to vast, sprinting loops of our fields! Tango, we believe, has never lived inside a home before. He loves bed and will settle easily into a house, however, house-training may be something to work on across his first couple of weeks in a home. He is very clean here in kennels since getting neutered, but it should be considered that living in a home will be new to him. Tango does well with other dogs. He is terrific with the females but will try to be the boss if other males are being annoying around him! We would definitely rehome him with a female dog, but a male would have to be pending a meet and greet. Tango does not necessarily have to live with another dog, but if there is no dog in his home, we would hope there wouldn’t be too many leaving hours. Lurchers do not generally do well by themselves for any real length of time. Tango has never lived with children before and can be a bit grabby with food (perhaps understandably) so we would prefer a home with children 12 plus for Tango. Meanwhile, a secure garden is preferrable, he has probably been used for hunting in the past and may have a prey drive that does not stop at your boundary! This may be negotiable depending on the location of the home offered and the efforts owners put into oversight. We really would love to see Tango find a loving home, he is so so affectionate. If you would like to apply for Tango please read the Adoption Process on our website and apply using the Adoption Questionnaire.

  • Xena – Photo 1 of 1

    Xena

    €200adoption fee

    Shepherd · 5 years · Female

    Co. Cork, Ireland

We are sadly looking to rehome our nearly 5-year-old German Shepherd, Xena, due to housing circumstances. Xena is a loyal and protective dog who is excellent with children and has been part of a busy family environment. She is okay with cats, though supervision is advised, especially around food as she can be food dominant. She would make a great guard dog, as she is naturally wary of visitors. She can be unsure at first, but with calm, dog-friendly people and proper introductions, she settles well and builds trust. Xena is a reactive and nervous dog, particularly around other dogs, likely due to limited socialisation during COVID. Because of this, she would be best suited to a home with no other dogs and with an owner experienced in handling reactive or anxious dogs. She has been keyhole neutered (spayed) and is microchipped. Xena has never been crated, travels well in the car, and is good on the lead. She understands and follows basic commands and is a clever, responsive dog. She is also very expressive—she’ll even put her ears back when she knows she’s done something wrong. She is very alert and will bark at almost anything (even small movements like leaves or dust), so she needs an owner who understands this behaviour and can manage or train it appropriately. Ideal home: No other dogs Someone experienced with reactive or nervous dogs A calm, structured environment Secure outdoor space This is a very difficult decision for our family, and we are committed to finding Xena a safe, patient, and permanent home where she can thrive. to apply for Xena, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals

  • Patch – Photo 1 of 1

    Patch

    €200adoption fee

    Jack Russell · 6 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Patch is a classic Jack Russell, he is 6 years old and in great nick having come from a very caring home. Unfortunately Patch developed a tendency towards controlling behaviours – growling, snapping – when he didn’t get his way. In his home he learned that he could get away with not going out, or staying on the sofa by giving a growl to make his owners back off! In the weeks since he arrived to the rescue, we have had no issue with him. Handling him; clipping on leads; sending him out with volunteers for walks; walking and sharing a kennel with other dogs – all fine. So Patch is not for everyone, we know he may try to employ previously-seen controlling behaviours once he settles in a new home. He needs an experienced, quieter home without people going in and out all the time. He also needs someone prepared to give firm correction if he tries to get away with anything! Patch is a clever, loving, entertaining lad. He is very trustworthy on and off the lead and he is immaculately clean in his kennel. Yes, he needs an experienced owner, but also a home where he gets plenty of fun, encouragement and comfort. Because of his history we will not rehome him to a household with young children. Patch mixes really well with other dogs here. It could be a bonus having another dog in the home where Patch more easily understands that the world doesn’t revolve around him! If you are interested in meeting Patch please read the Adoption Process on the website and apply using the Adoption Questionnaire.

  • Frost – Photo 1 of 1

    Frost

    €200adoption fee

    Husky · 7 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Such a fun dog, Frost is a 7 year old male Husky. When his owner passed away Frost was left in the same outside run for over 2 years until we heard about him. We can’t wait for this lad to have the opportunity of a fun, playful home to make up for those years without exercise or interaction. Frost is very petite for a male Husky. He LOVES toy play and is so affectionate with people, he is properly entertaining to be around! He has his moments of stubborness and is sometimes inclined to not listen, but that is only because he finds it hilarious to wind up his person! He settles really well in his kennel, no barking or pacing, he is immaculate to care for. Frost has spent his entire life without the company of other dogs. At the rescue Frost meets and passes dogs nicely around the block, but when left to offlead with dogs he’s goofy, bouncy and strong. He takes onlead walks really nicely with others and he could be rehomed with another dog but it will need to be a dog who can tolerate this guy’s misguided attempts at play! Alternatively Frost could be an only dog, he would certainly be a great family pet with children 7+. We will need a home where he isn’t left for long hours and secure garden or space within the garden is a must. He cannot be rehomed with cats. Could you be the person who finally gives Frost the life, love and craic he has been missing for so long? To apply for him please read our Adoption Process on the website and apply using the Adoption Questionnaire.

    Collie · 6 years · Female

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Loving 6-Year-Old Collie Seeking a New Forever Home 🐾 I’m looking to rehome my 6-year-old female Collie due to ongoing aggression and jealousy toward her sister. This has been a very difficult decision, but it is the right one to ensure both dogs can thrive. She is an intelligent, lively, and energetic girl who loves long walks, chasing a ball, and playing with toys. She thrives on mental stimulation , enjoys learning new things, and responds well to a structured routine. She is: • House-trained and used to family life • Affectionate and bonds strongly with her person • Eager to please with great potential for further training • Healthy and up to date on vet care (add details if relevant) She would do best in a one-dog home , ideally with someone familiar with Collies or high-energy breeds. A home with a secure garden and owners who can give her the exercise, attention, and consistency she loves would be perfect. She has shown aggression only toward her sister, not toward people. I’m happy to provide her bed, toys, and anything that will help her settle, along with information about her routines and what works well for her. I can also support the transition to ensure she feels safe and understood. If you feel you could offer her a calm, loving, and dedicated home, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals

    Trailhound · 4 years · Male

Shadow is a gorgeous, gentle and affectionate 4 year old trailhound. He is house-trained and mannerly and will make a wonderful pet. His only essential criteria is that there is another dog in the home. Without another dog in the home Shadow will have problems with leaving hours. He finds it very hard to settle on his own, he will howl without a dog companion or human companion. Another dog provides him with the comfort he needs and he settles just fine when he has a buddy. Shadow is a dream to walk on or off the lead, his recall is very good. Shadow is exceptional with all dogs, they just love him – he is playful, respectful and a really positive influence on others. • Loki – Photo 1 of 1

    Loki

    €200adoption fee

    Collie · 3 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Loki is a super bright, gorgeous and affectionate 3 year old black and white collie who bonded very quickly with our family. He is so tuned he knows just when he is allowed up to hug or curl up on the couch beside you. He loves belly rubs and scratches under his chin and on his chest. He can almost talk! When we come home from work he has a lovely growl that sounds just like ‘Helllloooo’. Loki loves to play and still at times gets the zoomies if he wants to play. He loves tug on a rope, tracking games, foraging, and walks and is not afraid of water. With promise of a treat he is super fast to ‘sit’, ‘lie down’, ‘roll over’, ‘come’, ‘touch’, ‘through’, ‘find me’ , ‘wait’ , ‘stay’ and ‘cross (the road)’. Once exercised Loki is then very happy to chillout for large parts of the day. Loki’s breakfast is at 7am and dinner is at 5pm. We usually hold some food back during the day to work on training. We use Red Mills Engage Salmon for a good diet as he had a sensitive tummy when he came to us. Now though he also is mad for little pieces of carrot or cheese, or rabbit or fish dog treats. Loki is generally well behaved off lead and makes good choices skirting around other dogs at the beach. He prefers human company though. He enjoys walking on a longish lead where it is quiet and familiar. While Loki is excellent within our family of 5 (3 adults and 2 teenagers), we got him when he was nearly 2 and he seemed to have had a rough time before then. He was skinny in the beginning, he healed and gained weight. At the start he worried and drew back if anyone went to pet him from the right or touch his collar, he still hesitates in doorways, seemingly worried he will be locked in or out. If we plump the cushions he seems to think we’re being aggressive and he will try to stop us. Our house is a busy one with lots of visitors during the week, there can be lots of noise and routine changes all the time. While Loki is pretty good with strangers we meet out walking, in our house Loki can be anxious around visitors, especially anxious visitors! He is scared of the vet too, and in these kinds of situations he may try to control the situation by snapping. To live his best life Loki needs a quiet home of 1 or 2 adults who are calm, confident and responsive to the ongoing rehabilitation needs of this bright, sensitive and very gorgeous collie. He is a wonderful companion for the right owners Loki does have a history of bieng reactive to certain triggers within the home, and does have a history of snapping/snarling/lunging when such triggers present. so an experienced home is a must to apply for Loki, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals

Meet Zena – A Golden-Hearted Girl with So Much Love to Give 🐾 At 8 years old, Zena is a calm, affectionate Staffordshire Bull Terrier who’s ready to spend her golden years in a home filled with love, comfort, and companionship. She may be a little older, but don’t let that fool you—Zena still enjoys gentle walks, a good sniff in the park, and, most of all, curling up beside her favorite humans. Zena has a sweet, gentle nature that wins over everyone she meets. She’s well-mannered, housetrained, and happiest in a quiet, predictable environment where she can truly relax and be herself.
