    Jrt/Dash X · 6 years · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

✨ Introducing this lovely distinguished little gentleman ... Scrappy 💙 🐾 He is approx 6 years young, a dachie x who sadly came into our care as a stray & has not been re-claimed. Scrappy has been a delight to have in our care, when he first arrived he was very scared & confused ... he didn’t really want to know us at all ... but finally after some perseverance & tasty treats - He’s decided he likes us now 😅 Since then, we’ve discovered what a tennis ball chasing, belly rub lover, cuddle bug he was hiding inside this whole time 🫶🏽 Scrappy can be a bit shy with new people, but once he realises you are there for playtime & rubs he is all over you. He is thriving now he is getting all the attention & is such an easy going boy. He loves being close for cuddles, rolling over for good ole belly scratch & chasing after balls 🎾 He’s a playful, loving chap underneath it all ! Scrappy is great to walk on the lead & loves his little nosies down the road. He can be a little barky with other dogs & may be more suitable to any only dog home where he can be the king of the castle 👑 He is toilet trained & not child or cat tested. Due to his cautious, older nature, we would not re-home with children. Scrappy is an absolutely stunning little boy, I mean just look at him 😍 He has such an easy going, pleasant nature .. he wouldn’t require endless walks , a little toddle down the road & a roam in the garden to lie in the sun & chase his tennis ball would do him. This little gent deserves a second chance, a new chapter to his story ... and we know the perfect forever home is out there waiting for him 💙 🐾

  • Ruby – Photo 1 of 1

    Ruby

    Dog · 4-5 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Ruby is a small Maltese mix, approximately 4–5 years old. We are not sure what he is mixed with, but he is a small dog. Ruby can be quite fearful and nervous, and we believe he may have had some difficult experiences earlier in life. There is also a possibility that he spent a lot of time tied or leashed outside when he was younger, which may help explain his strong fear of leads and some of his nervous behaviour. He can be territorial and may bark a lot, especially when he feels unsure or uncomfortable. Ruby is not leash trained and is very frightened of leads. When a leash is put on him, he tends to freeze rather than walk, so he would need a very patient and gentle approach to leash training. Ruby is affectionate and enjoys human attention. He will approach people himself for attention and especially likes head rubs. However, he can become nervous if he feels overwhelmed, so he is happiest when attention is given on his terms and his body language is respected. He has been patient around children and has not shown a tendency to bite. However, because he can be nervous and somewhat unpredictable when frightened, interactions with children should always be supervised and calm. Ruby does not seem bothered by cats, but he does not get along well with other dogs. He can become very reactive and aggressive around them, particularly in his own space. This is the main reason he is being rehomed, as there is now another small dog in the household and Ruby is not coping well with having another dog around. Because of this, Ruby would likely be best suited to a home where he is the only dog. He would benefit from an experienced, patient owner who understands fearful or reactive dogs and can give him time, space and consistent boundaries. A quieter home may suit him best, where he can gradually build trust and receive gentle training. to apply for Ruby, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire

  • Benno – Photo 1 of 1

    Benno

    Collie · 5 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Benno is a beautiful, healthy, 5 year-old rough collie looking for a quiet, loving home. He is a clever and energetic dog who needs regular exercise and stimulation. Benno is a lot of fun to be around when there’s a frisbee or ball to chase, and he loves to rub his back on a frosty lawn! Benno can be headstrong but is also keen to please and likes obedience training (with treats). Benno is not especially affectionate, but seeks out his our company and flops companionably at our feet in the evenings. Benno is highly reactive and reacts strongly to noises. He finds loud noises like motorbikes, blenders and vacuum cleaners threatening and reacts aggressively with barking. He also sometimes also barks at other sounds like laughter, singing or children playing on the street. He is overly protective of his household and can be aggressive towards visitors. He gets excited by airplanes (and will give chase). Benno has lived companionably with two cats, but has been the only dog since we adopted him as a puppy. When walking he is a bit nervous of small dogs and can be reactive to larger dogs, but also interested in meeting other dogs. Benno needs a peaceful home, maybe with teenagers but not young children. We’re looking for a quieter home (away from an airport flight path) and an experienced owner who can help Benno overcome his reactive and protective tendencies and become a happier and more settled version of himself. to apply for Benno, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire

  • Dustin – Photo 1 of 2

    Dustin

    Terrier · 21 months · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Meet Dustin , our 21-month-old neutered Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. He’s a registered purebred with papers, stands about 60cm tall, and has a soft, golden, non-shedding coat. I always thought Dustin and I would grow old together, so writing this breaks my heart. We’re rehoming him because our home is surrounded by horses, and he’s become determined to get into the fields to round them up, which puts both him and the horses at risk. We spent six months trying and considering everything: fencing, GPS collars and additional training, but nothing can match his herding instinct. The space is too big to fence in, and building a pen and keeping him penned up while his dog friends play freely would be no life for such a sociable boy. He deserves somewhere he can run safely. Dustin is joyful, affectionate and full of character. He’s wonderful with children, loves everyone he meets, and is happiest playing with other dogs. He adores woodland walks, beach runs, car trips and the postman (who brings him biscuits!). He’s housetrained, knows lots of tricks, and is a champion cuddler. What we’re hoping for: 1. A doggy companion to play with. He’d make a wonderful younger brother. 2. A large, secure garden away from livestock and with no access to traffic. Dustin is fully vaccinated, and his March booster is already paid for. His vet records are available and show he’s prone to itchy paws, which is very manageable. Dustin is my shadow and the centre of our world. We love him beyond measure, and the hardest part is knowing we won’t see him grow into the wonderful adult dog we know he’ll be. If you think you could give him the home he deserves, please fill out the West Cork Animals Adoption Questionnaire.

  • Rocco – Photo 1 of 1

    Rocco

    Dog · 6 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

With a very heavy heart, we’re looking for a new home for our much-loved Rocco. After many years as part of our family, an unexpected move abroad for work means we now have to find the right person or family to love him for the next chapter of his life. ❤️ Rocco is a dog who has definitely travelled. Born in Hungary, shipped out to the Middle East, where we were lucky enough to find him in a rescue shelter, and after two years with us, we brought him home to Ireland to continue living with our family. Around the house, Rocco’s favourite place to be is chilling with us all. With young kids, he moves from room to room and will happily plonk himself down wherever they are — sometimes right in the middle of their fort! 😂 Rocco’s bowel movements are like clockwork — up in the morning and out he goes, and again in the evening. He’s fully house-trained and, when he needs to go out, he’ll generally just come and stand beside you to let you know. During the day, he’s often out in the back garden with the kids at their tree house, playing or simply tagging along with them on whatever adventure they’re having out the back. He’s fed once in the morning and has always been very puppy-like, something we’ve been told from the beginning and something the kennels he stays with while we’re on holidays have said too. At the kennels, he happily plays and mixes with all the other dogs and has no problem staying there overnight. We’re very happy to provide references from them. If we’re heading off for the day, Rocco is quite happy at home and we’ll usually just leave the radio on for him for a bit of company. When a visitor comes to the house, there’s no barking — simply a sniff to say hello. Then off he’ll go to find a toy, a bone, a ball — anything he can bring back in the hope that you’ll play with him. Living out in the countryside, we know how privileged we are, and Rocco is completely at home here. With cows grazing in the fields next door and nature all around us, he’s just as chilled outside as he is in the house. Out for walks, predominantly in our local woods, you may get a bark when an oncoming dog approaches, as Rocco is lead-reactive. He’s much better now than when we first met him and really just wants to be free to go over and say hello. Off the lead and in the kennels, he’s happily playing and socialising with other dogs. Rocco has been my son’s best friend since birth — he’s now 8. He happily lets our now 6-year-old play with his long hair, and our 3-year-old, well, she’s only recently become taller than him! 😂 He really has grown up as part of our children’s lives and right in the middle of our family. Health-wise, Rocco is doing incredibly well for 12. He’s not on any medication and never has been. Two years ago, he had a twisted stomach which required an operation. The operation went really well and he’s had no problems since. He will occasionally develop a hot spot, particularly if we’ve been away on holiday a little too long. If one appears, we pop his cone on to stop him bothering it, which he doesn’t mind at all, and he’s usually fine again within a few days. Our move has all come about very quickly and certainly wasn’t something we had planned for. At 12, Rocco is beginning to slow down with old age, his hearing is starting to go too, and where we’re moving will simply be too hot for him. We don’t feel it would be fair to put him through another international move at this stage of his life. We want to find him a loving home where he can continue to live out the rest of his days surrounded by love, companionship and, hopefully, the beautiful countryside he’s become so at home in. ❤️ Hes a real gem of a dog! Billie

    €275adoption fee

    Crossbreed · 6 months · Female · Small

    Ireland

Billie is a sweet and lovable little lady whose big personality can sometimes hide a more insecure side. Her excitement and giddy behaviour are often her way of coping when she is unsure, so she will need adopters who are patient, understanding and able to read her signals and recognise what she is really trying to communicate. Billie would love to be the only pet in her new home, where she can enjoy plenty of one to one attention, guidance and positive training. She can have doggy friends outside the home who are happy to cope with her enthusiastic personality, although Billie is not always the best at reading other dogs signals yet. She will need kind guidance and support to help her learn appropriate social skills and understand when another dog needs a little space. Billie can live with sensible teenagers aged 14 years and over who can respect her boundaries, give her space when she needs it and understand that her giddy, playful behaviour can sometimes be a mask for how unsure she is feeling. A fully secure garden is essential for Billie, along with a home where her new family can give her the time, patience and encouragement she needs to grow in confidence. With the right support, positive training and plenty of reassurance, Billie has so much potential. As her confidence grows, we are sure this lovely little lady will blossom into a wonderful and devoted companion.

    Russell sprout

    Dog · 9 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

WELL… WHERE DO WE EVEN START WITH THIS BOY? Everyone meet Russell — or, as he’s very fondly known by the team, Russell Sprout. And there isn’t one of us who doesn’t love him. Russell once belonged to a family. When they moved back to their home country, he was simply put out onto the streets and left behind. By the time he reached us, he was in an awful state. thin, filthy dirty, nails terribly overgrown and teeth so rotten that the smell was something we had never experienced before. Looking at his teeth, you could have believed he was twenty. In reality, we think this little Jack Russell is probably around 8–9 years old. Russell has since had every single tooth removed — and his little tongue now permanently hangs out of the side of his mouth. Somehow it just makes him even more lovable. And what gets us most about Russell? He asks for absolutely nothing. Give him his little 15–20 minute walk each day and he’s delighted. He loves pottering around, occasionally breaking into the funniest little show-pony jaunt, reminding everyone that underneath everything he’s been through, there’s still a proper little Jack Russell in there. Once he knows you, he’s affectionate, gentle and incredibly sweet. He doesn’t need big adventures or a busy life. He just needs someone to say, “Come on, Russell Sprout. You’re coming home.” Russell could live with children aged 12+ who understand and appreciate an older dog. He was thrown away when his family no longer needed him. We’d really love the rest of his story to be about someone who could never imagine leaving him behind.

    Molly

    Dog · 11 months · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET LITTLE MOLLY Molly is only 11 months old, but sometimes when you look at her little worried face, she seems much older. She is a nervous, gentle little girl who probably hasn’t had the easiest start. We know she was very much loved by her previous family, but sadly we don’t feel she always received the care she needed. And yet there isn’t an ounce of badness in her. Molly is soft, sweet and incredibly loving. She adores everyone she meets and desperately wants to trust that everything is going to be okay. Most of the time you see that slightly worried little face… and then something lovely happens. Her ears suddenly perk up, she grabs a toy and, just for a while, the baby she still is comes shining through. Those moments make everything worthwhile. Molly needs someone patient and kind who will show her that life doesn’t have to be scary. That food will always come, hands will always be gentle and home really can mean forever. She could share her home with a suitable male dog and is looking for: A secure garden Someone home for a good part of the day Children aged 12+ Plenty of patience, reassurance and love She’s only 11 months old. Molly has her whole life ahead of her. We just need someone to show her how wonderful that life can be.

    Ruby Roo

    Dog · 11 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET RUBY — SHE’S READY FOR THE QUIET LIFE At 11 years old, Ruby isn’t asking for adventures or excitement. She’s simply looking for somewhere soft to land. Ruby arrived with us a frightened, cross little Shih Tzu who didn’t want much to do with anybody. She was scared of everything and everyone and, although we know very little about her past, one thing was obvious — she was missing the life and the person she had known. It was heartbreaking to watch. But week by week, Ruby began to realise she was safe. And what a transformation. The little girl who didn’t want anyone near her now happily gets lifted up for cuddles and absolutely adores attention. She has shown us the sweetest, most affectionate side of herself, and she really is an absolute darling. Ruby loves her little 15-minute walks twice a day and is beautiful on the lead. But her favourite part of the day? Curling up beside her human when everything is quiet. We’d love to find Ruby a calm, peaceful retirement home with no young children, where life can simply be easy from now on. She is okay with other dogs and could potentially learn to live alongside a cat. She doesn’t need much. A couple of little walks. A warm bed. A lap to cuddle into. And someone she can belong to again. At 11 years old, Ruby deserves to know that wherever she goes next… she never has to leave again.

    Diego

    French Bulldog · 12 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

DIEGO IS WAITING FOR HIS SOMEONE There’s no denying that Diego is a stunning boy. With that fluffy coat and gorgeous wee face, he’s the kind of dog people notice. But we really hope someone falls in love with who Diego is, not just what he looks like. Because underneath all that fluff is the loveliest wee soul. Diego is a gorgeous French Bulldog with a wonderful nature. He gets on really well with other dogs, is lovely to walk on the lead and has so much love and fun to bring to the right home. He can be a little mouthy when he’s playing — there is absolutely no badness in him, he just gets carried away having fun! For that reason, we’re looking for a home with children aged 12+. Like many Frenchies, Diego also has a sensitive tummy. He needs a specific diet and, when he finds a food that suits him, it’s important that his new family keeps him on the same brand. A small commitment for the person who gets to call this beautiful boy theirs. Diego doesn’t need anything extraordinary. He needs someone who will see beyond the fluffy coat, understand his little quirks and promise that, when they choose him, they’re choosing him for life. He’ll give you friendship, laughs, lovely walks and more love than you could ever ask for in return. Somewhere out there is the person Diego has been waiting for. We just need to help them find each other. •

    Tova

    €250adoption fee

    Dog · 6 years · Female

    Co. Galway, Ireland

After many months of rehabilitation, Tova has started the search for her forever home. After an intense few months our kennel team worked hard to teach Tova that not all humans are bad and Tova reached at a point where she was ready to go into into a foster home. She has done really well under the care of her foster Mum, doggy friends and cat friends. Meet the beautiful six-year-old, Tova. Having come from a traumatic past, this sweet girl is now learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and wanted. Tova is still finding her confidence and is not going to shower you with love right away but, every day, she is making little steps forward. She is learning to enjoy touch and affection, and once she trusts you, she has so much love to give and she has recently decided that she adores belly rubs! Tova is great with other dogs, great with cats, loves car rides, is house-trained, and is excellent on a leash. She's a tough little cookie, underneath her shyness, and can be a little cheeky and stubborn and definitely has a mind of her own! Tova absolutely MUST live in a home with at least one dog, or more, who will be an important part of helping her continue to blossom. She will not be rehomed as an only dog as she finds a huge amount of comfort in her doggie foster siblings. She needs someone patient who understands that she will not become an affectionate, confident dog overnight. She has spent six years thinking that the world isn't always a safe place and now she deserves the time, patience and kindness to learn that it can be. She is looking for someone who will celebrate the tiny victories, never rush her, and show her that she is finally safe. We feel that a quiet rural/semi rural home will suit her best without too many comings and goings but there must be a fully secure garden where Tova can enjoy some pottering and playtime. We also feel a home without young children is best suited to her needs. Tova is spayed, chipped and vaccinated and she will need grooming a few times a year.
