  • Jackie – Photo 1 of 7

    Jackie

    €245adoption fee

    Terrier · 5-7 Years · Female · Small

    Co. Wicklow, Ireland

Lively and cheeky, Jackie is ready to find a home where she can be loved. Jackie is a lively little Terrier with a huge personality who is once again looking for her forever home after being returned through no fault of her own. Jackie was originally rescued by our NSPCA inspectors as part of a case involving 20 dogs. Despite everything she has experienced, she remains full of life and enthusiasm. Like many Terriers, Jackie is energetic, playful and always ready for her next adventure. She will need an active home that can provide her with plenty of walks, playtime and opportunities to explore, helping her burn off energy while enjoying life to the fullest. Jackie is good with children and would enjoy being part of a family. However, she would prefer to be the only dog in the home, where she can enjoy all the attention for herself. With an active family who understands her needs, Jackie will make a fun, affectionate and entertaining companion who will bring plenty of smiles along the way.

  • Elsa – Photo 1 of 7

    Elsa

    Pug/Mixed Breed · 6 years · Female · Medium

    Co. Louth, Ireland

This gentle girl arrived to us from Louth Pound on the 1st of May, and it was immediately clear that life hadn’t been kind to her. She was found with Olaf — whom we believe to be her son — and only recently we learned of another dog, Nicki, who we now suspect is her daughter. Three dogs, all connected, all let down. Elsa was booked straight in for neutering, had her nails clipped, and underwent surgery to remove a lump for analysis. Her skin was in poor condition too. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped forward so she could recover in comfort. She is now back at kennels, and we are desperately hoping to find her a foster or, even better, a forever home. Elsa is such a lovely soul — gentle, sweet, and quietly hopeful. She deserves to know what it feels like to be safe, cherished, and truly loved. • Tommy – Photo 1 of 2

    Tommy

    €25adoption fee

    Cat · 1 year · Male

    Co. Roscommon, Ireland

Tommy is a one year old neutered male. He is very shy and timid but secretly longs for affection. He loves a sneaky head rub in the morning. Tommy does best around other cats so his ideal home would have similar age or younger for Tommy to play with. He is smaller than the average male but loves to play with others. He is very slow to trust people so a quiet home is a must where he is given space to adapt.

    Devon

    Collie/Spaniel · 7 months · Male · Medium

    Co. Louth, Ireland

Devon - Border Collie Male Surrendered to Dublin Pound, then came into the care of DDR on the 4th June 2026 Date of Birth - 18th February 2026 Vaccinated, Microchipped 💙 Devon – Our Little Survivor In early June, we were asked to help three young Collie pups. One of them was Devon — a bright, gentle little soul who had already endured far too much in his short life. His first month with us was spent in kennels, but when kennel cough broke out in the Centre, we secured a foster home for him. Devon thrived there. He adored the garden, the comfort, the routine, and his foster mom. His little personality finally began to shine. But at the beginning of August, everything changed. Devon suddenly became lethargic, developed severe diarrhoea, and stopped playing — completely out of character for this lively pup. His foster mom rushed him to the out‑of‑hours vets, where he was found to have a dangerously high temperature and was clearly in pain. Emergency treatment kept him stable overnight until he could be transferred to our own vets the next morning. What followed was a terrifying ordeal. Devon was taken straight in for explorative surgery after a lump was detected on his abdomen. Further investigations revealed congenital kidney abnormalities — one kidney deformed and misplaced, the other functioning poorly. His white cell count was extremely high, and his kidney readings were deeply concerning. Images and a urine sample were sent to a Specialist in Dublin while our vets worked to stabilise him. Despite antibiotics and pain relief offering brief improvement, Devon relapsed and had to be rushed to Specialist Vets in Dublin. His temperature spiked and crashed repeatedly, his little body shivering one moment and burning up the next. His immune system was fighting with everything it had. After extensive testing, the specialists finally reached a diagnosis: Steroid Responsive Meningitis. The moment treatment began, Devon started to improve — a huge relief for everyone who has been fighting for him. Devon has now been discharged and has been spending the last few weeks recovering in his foster home. We are so grateful to his fosters for looking after him in his time of need. Devon continues to fight back after his recent health scare, showing us every day just how strong and determined he truly is. This brave little lad has faced more than his fair share of challenges, but his spirit never wavers. With the support of our team — and all the love he’s been surrounded with — Devon is slowly but surely getting back on his paws. Devon is now looking for his forever home. If you would like to adopt this brave little boy, please email rehoming@dundalkdogrescue.ie

    Percy

    €250adoption fee

    Greyhound · 18 months · Male · Large

    Co. Kildare, Ireland

This gorgeous guy is a white greyhound who is 18 months old with a wonderful personality. Despite having had most of his tail amputated owing to injury, he is a happy and exceptionally friendly boy who holds no grudge for altering his handsome look. He is currently in a foster home where his affectionate companionship knows no bounds, is clean and causing no trouble. The bonus with Percy is that he is fully toilet-trained and is very obedient. Percy is playful and loves his long walks, beach-life or running behind a ball during his games of catch. He unwinds by resting his head on your lap and listening to a lullaby as he drifts off to sleep. Percy’s Fosterer feels deeply loved, valued and wanted every time she comes home to be greeted by Percy and thinks those gorgeous, innocent eyes will warm any heart. Percy is unsuited to living with cats and will need a nice-sized garden to exercise in.

    Wee Max

    £170adoption fee

    Collie (Border) · 8 years 10 months · Male · Medium

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Max is a handsome Collie who is ready to start searching for his forever home. When Max first arrived at the sanctuary he was originally a stray and therefore was very wary of us all. He initially would be scared to approach staff and volunteers but through a lot of time and patience he has build confidence and come on leaps and bounds. He was even scared of having a collar and lead put on. Through time the staff worked with Max daily to help him build some positive associations to having a lead on and were able to then start taking him out for walks. He eventually grew even more confident allowing us to harness on him and happy to be walked by volunteers too. Max is a nervous boy and would love to find a patient owner who can help him as he learns to trust humans again. Max loves having a sniff about on his walks and has been known to seek out the sunniest spot in our field to lay down and sunbathe. Max would love the chance to start over again with a new owner, he deserves a quiet happy home where he can relax and enjoy living life to the fullest. Max is seeking an experienced quiet home with someone who has patience and time to further encourage him to come out of his shell. He needs a home with no other pets and no children (living or visiting). Max would also need to live in a quiet or rural area as he is wary of fast moving vehicles. If you think you can provide Max with his forever home please submit an application form and a member of the dog team will be in touch!.

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

This is our wee Pablo! Pablo is a pug cross. Pablo is the best wee boy not only is he very handsome but he is also full of character! Pablo loves to get out on adventures and have lots of fun sometimes to the beach or the forest where he can sniff out what everyone has been up to. He is a very smart boy, who loves learning new things and doing some trick training here at the sanctuary, he has even learnt to crawl along on his stomach. He loves getting attention from the staff here when he asks for it as once he knows you he will happily jump up to say hello and then continue with his mischief. Pablo is desperate to find a loving forever home as he has been here at the sanctuary a very long time and although he has his family here in our dog unit staff, nothing compares to home of your own. Pablo is looking for an adult only home to allow him to be himself and grow strong bonds with his new family so that together they can go on fun adventures. He needs to be the only pet in the home and honestly you wouldn’t need any other pets if you had Pablo! Not many I bet) Pablo does have some behavioural issues which would benefit from a home that will be willing to work with him on these and just give him the space he needs. Big Max

    £170adoption fee

German Shepherd Dog (Alsatian) · 9 years 3 months · Male · Large

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

This is Max, a beautiful shepherd cross with a heart as big as his paws. He found himself back at Assisi through no fault of his own. Loved by staff both old and new, this gentle giant has charmed everyone who takes the time to earn his trust. While Max is quick to warm up to familiar faces, he can be wary of strangers – particularly men- but with patience and positive interactions he comes around. Once you’re in his circle, you’ll be greeted with bonding enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and a tongue-out grim as he races through the field like a pup, ball in mouth. On walks, Max is strong on the lead but loves a good sniff around. In his younger years, he was more reactive to dogs and strangers when out on walks, now he can cope with both at a distance and is able to glance and return to his favourite hobby – sniffing. Due to his size, strength and history, Max would need an adult-only home as well as being the only pet. He’s ready to find a home that will give him the love, stability and time he deserves. JRT X · 8 years 11 months · Male · Small

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

He much prefers quiet walks with his trusted companions and values quality time with them – once Bruce has built a bond with you, you will have a friend for life! His best friend at the Sanctuary is Tana the Shih Tzu, and they love going for quiet afternoon strolls together where they can take in the scenery and all the interesting smells. Bruce is comfortable wearing his muzzle when out on walks and can easily take treats through the gaps when working on learning new skills with the staff. In his downtime, he loves playing with toys and has become quite the collector! – he will often inspect our donation bin for more to add to his collection. He also enjoys daily naps in his comfortable bed and, like many of us, prefers to be undisturbed while sleeping. It would be beneficial to provide Bruce with a quiet area in his new home to place his bed. He is incredibly clever and loves learning new tricks! – he knows sit, paw, down, and hand touch – he has also trained people to let them know he would like attention by gently tapping you with his paw. Bruce is looking for a home that can work with some behavioural issues he has developed throughout his life due to stress and not giving him the space and time he needs. • Jivi – Photo 1 of 3

    Jivi

    €150adoption fee

    Greyhound · 4 years · Female

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Jivi is a curious, playful and gentle soul who slept peacefully through her very first night, tucked up close to her foster family. By morning she was ready for playtime with her beloved parrot toy 🦜 What her foster pawrents say: ' "She's the best adventure buddy, up for anything and just an absolute dote with the happiest smile on her face always. So sweet, affectionate, silly and playful. She'll make the most wonderful companion for sure." An update from Jivi's foster family, 16 July Some of you will have noticed that Jivi recently returned to her foster home after a home trial. She found the move into a brand new environment overwhelming and was anxious, shy and not quite herself, crying during her first two nights. The family decided to end the home trial early, and Jivi settled straight back into her familiar routine 🐾. As with many rescue hounds, adjusting to a new home takes time, patience and reassurance. We are incredibly proud of how resilient Jivi has been, and she continues to show us every day what a happy, affectionate and wonderful companion she is. At home From the moment she arrived, Jivi embraced home life with both paws. After giving every inch of the house and garden a thorough inspection, she discovered comfy beds, a toy box and a cosy sofa, and was soon sprawled out alongside her foster sisters taking notes on the very best places to nap 🛋. Household noises such as the cooker, hoover, dishwasher and washing machine sparked her curiosity at first, but after hearing them once she happily returned to snoozing or entertaining herself with her toys. She is fully toilet trained and has had no accidents in foster, sleeping soundly through the night on her own bed beside her foster family. As with any rescue dog, a move into a new home can temporarily affect routines while she learns a new family's schedule. Jivi is also becoming more confident spending short periods home alone. Her foster family have left her for up to an hour and a half, where she happily snoozed away while being watched on the nanny cam 📹. This is something that will continue to be built up gradually in a new home. Out and about Out and about, Jivi comes alive. She loves an adventure and happily trots into cafes and pet shops, always ready to pick out a tasty treat or a new toy while soaking up compliments from everyone she meets ☕. On walks she may start off with a little excitement, but quickly settles into a relaxed pace, making sure she catches up on all the neighbourhood gossip through her nose. She takes traffic, bikes and even construction work completely in her stride. New sounds might make her stop for a curious look, but with a little reassurance she happily carries on. Jivi enjoys the company of other dogs and especially loves playing with them. She has made lots of canine pals and it is a joy to watch her being her wonderfully happy, silly self. What makes Jivi so special? 💛 Sweet, affectionate and loves human company 🦮 Walks beautifully and quickly settles into a relaxed stroll ☕ Loves adventures, cafes and pet shop outings 🐕 Gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to play 🧻 Fully toilet trained in foster 😴 Sleeps soundly through the night 🏠 Happy to relax for short periods alone, being built up gradually 🚗 Calm around household noises, traffic, bikes and everyday life 😁 Happy, silly, curious and always wearing the biggest smile Jivi's ideal home 💞 A family who understands that rescue hounds need patience, reassurance and time 🎒 People who would enjoy an adventure buddy 🐶 Happy either as an only hound or with a canine friend Welcome, Jivi, 28 June Beautiful Jivi has officially waved goodbye to kennels to begin an exciting new chapter in Galway, where she is settling beautifully into her wonderful foster home 🏡. Nicki

    Pug/Terrier · 1 year · Female · Small

    Co. Louth, Ireland

Nicki is a very affectionate and playful Pug x, walks well on the lead and travels well in the car. Nicki arrived into our care in an incredibly vulnerable state — underweight, frightened, and clearly having endured far more than any dog ever should. We believe she may be a sibling of Olaf, and sadly, her condition reflects a life that has not been kind. But that all changes now. Nicki is finally safe. Over the last few weeks we focused on rebuilding her body condition, trust, and confidence. She received all necessary veterinary care, including neutering and Cherry Eye surgery. She is a beautiful girl who deserves to be surrounded by patience, gentleness, and love. Despite everything she has been through, Nicki’s soft, gentle nature is already shining through. She wants to be brave. She wants to connect. And with time, she will blossom into the happy, secure little dog she was always meant to be.
