    Pair

    Petunia and Taffy

    Mixed · 5-6 years

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Petunia & Taffy (AKA Tuna & Tuffs) Breed: Mixed Age: 5-6 Size: Small/Medium Temperament: Playful, friendly, shy. Special Requirements: Must be rehomed together. Cats: No Other dogs: Yes Children: 12+ This pair are very special to all of us at Almost Home. They arrived in June 2022, rescued from Pakistan where they led an appalling life. This duo found their safe haven with a lovely girl called Chris. Sadly Chris passed away & 9 of her beloved dogs arrived at Almost Home. Tuna & Tuffs are the last remaining 2 still looking for a home! They’re both very clever & despite their life of heartbreak and hurdles they always greet you with a smile. They absolutely love playing together & enjoy dancing around with the volunteers! Both are super cuddly & enjoy nothing more than getting belly rubs in the field. Because these 2 have come from a tough background, they require understanding & patience to settle into a home environment. They’re both unsure of new situations but their confidence is building and in the right home they will thrive. They will give unlimited happiness in return for your dedication & love.

  • Tilly – Photo 1 of 3

    Tilly

    Dog · 8 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Tilly It’s time for another updated profile for one of our longest residents. Tilly has now been in our care for almost three years, and if we’re honest, we simply can’t understand why she’s still waiting. She’s a beautiful, big-hearted hound who has so much love to give. Like many hounds, she’s wonderfully independent and can be as stubborn as a mule when she decides she has other ideas—but that’s all part of her charm, and it never fails to make us smile. Tilly absolutely lives for her walks. Give her open fields, plenty of new scents to investigate, and time to explore at her own pace, and she’s in her element. Watching her nose lead the way is one of life’s simple pleasures. She’s social with other dogs and enjoys their company, but over the years she’s grown into a confident, settled girl who would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for herself. If there’s one thing that melts Tilly’s heart, it’s children. She absolutely adores them. We feel she could happily share her home with children aged 8 years and over. We do believe that something in her past has made her especially protective of the people she loves, particularly children, and that loyalty is simply part of who she is. Tilly is strong, affectionate, funny, and full of character. She’ll make you laugh with her stubborn streak, keep you active on adventures, and reward you with unwavering love and loyalty. After almost three years, we genuinely don’t know why this wonderful girl is still overlooked. She has waited long enough. Could you be the family that finally shows Tilly what it’s like to have a place to call home forever?

    Sumo

    €250adoption fee

    Rottweiler / Newfoundland X · 18 months · Male

    Co. Kerry, Ireland

Hey everyone, my name is Sumo, I am a lockdown puppy. I am a high energy boy and due to this and my size, I would not suit a household with children under 16 years old. I am a big boisterous boy and would be too excitable for smallies. I like my space and must be in a home as an only dog. Also, no small furies please, the temptation to chase them is too much for me. I am a bit nervous when I first meet new people and I may bark as I am unsure, but when I get to know you, I am just a big puppy truly affectionate and as mad as a hatter , I do love a snuggle. I still need some training on the lead as I am really strong. As they put it, I am a work in progress. I can tell they all love me though as I am a pure rogue. Love Sumo xx
