    Pair

    Skye & Summer

    Cat · 2 years

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Skye (Male Ginger) and Summer (Female Tabby) are siblings from the same litter. Their owners are looking to have them rehomed as they are relocating abroad. They’d like them homed together (if possible) as they’ve only ever known each other. They were two years old in June. Both cats are up to date on vaccines, neutered and spayed & also microchipped. Skye is such an affectionate cat. He loves chilling with his humans, watching TV, snoozing beside them & enjoys his rubs. He likes going outside, but if his human friends are home, he’d prefer to be in lazing about with them. Summer is a little shy when it comes to human interaction but is such a charmer when she’s outside. Summer isn’t phased by anything & loves to explore the outdoors! She enjoys snoozing with her humans after a day of being out playing with the kids on the road. Both furbabies are very chilled, great with kids and are used to being indoors and outdoors. They love playing with their toys, eating treats & having little head rubs.

  • Mowgli – Photo 1 of 1

    Mowgli

    Dog · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Mowgli’s story. Dumped as a very young pup Mowgli was literally reared with the foxes, he spent his early puppy life up in the carnmoney hills, lots of people were looking out for him and every fly he was trapped and came his way to join our family. He was and still is very nervous and shy, but with the love and dedication that the volunteers give him, we can see his beautiful wee soul and character shine. He still has his foxy ways. He’ll slinky up to you for belly rubs, which he can’t get enough of. But he’s also happy just in your company, until he wants your attention and he’ll do his foxy bounces. He’s getting more and more confident on the lead and loves to sniff all the blades of grass, but again, he just loves being out and about with you. Mowgli’s gentle soul and good looks has won the hearts of the volunteers and the female pooches . Could he win yours . Mowglie will blossom into the perfect furry friend with someone who will give him a chance and also a female furry companion. children. 16+ and a super secure outdoor space.

    Pair

    Rua & Dubh

    Cat · 1 year · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Rua and Dubh need a new home through no fault of their own. Dubh is a lap cat. He loves to cuddle and kneed and curl up on my lap while his owners reads or watches a movie. His favourite place to fall asleep is tucked into someone even if they are strangers (although he can be quite skittish at first). He loves springs too and watching the bird channels lol he gets acne but I got a topical wash for that. Rua is an energetic adventure cat. He loves exploring and chasing things. I think he’d love to be an outdoor cat haha I do bring him to the park on a lead or out in his carrier and he loves it! Big fan of treats and lasers. He’s also very cuddly! They are brothers and I’ve had them since they were tiny kittens. They are just gone 1 year old. They are close but also do their own thing most of the time. They are up to date on vaccinations . More info and pictures to follow soon.

    Barn cats/Outdoor cats

    €150adoption fee

    Cat · 1-3 years

    Co. Wexford, Ireland

We’re often asked to help with finding alternative accommodation for outdoor/farm/barn cats. They are NOT pets. They come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Some are friendlier than others and, given time, may choose to become more domesticated, but they will always have a feisty streak. We usually try to rehome barn cats in bonded pairs i.e from the same colony but occasionally we come across really independent cat who genuinely seems to prefer living alone. Barn cats earn their living by keeping premises rodent free. All they ask in return is food and lodging. Barn cats will be neutered and health checked before being rehomed. As they originate from an outdoor environment, you will need to have a secure shed or garage for the initial settling in period to house the new cat, until they get used to their new home. Otherwise they may simply wander off! After this initial period, they can be allowed to roam, and carry out their rodent patrolling duties, as nature intended! Please note that we’re based in Co Wexford and you must be able to collect the cats from us.

Collie (Border) Cross · 3 years · Male · Medium

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Nick is a young Collie with a gentle with a sensitive soul. He has spent the majority of his life in kennels, and while the world can sometimes feel like a big and overwhelming place for him, those who have taken the time to truly get to know Nick will tell you there is no dog more loving, cuddly, playful or affectionate. Nick isn't the type of dog who will run straight up to a new person. He needs time to get to know you and feel safe, and all the new sights, sounds and smells of unfamiliar places can be a lot for this sensitive boy. But given the time and patience to take things at his own pace, Nick blossoms into an incredibly loving companion. His carers have built strong bonds with him by allowing him to set the pace, and the rewards have been amazing. Once Nick trusts you, he absolutely adores his people. In fact, his favourite place in the world is likely to be curled up beside you on the sofa, enjoying as many cuddles as he can get! Nick also has a wonderfully playful side. He adores toys of all kinds and particularly loves a good game of tug-of-war. He's a big fan of tasty treats and enjoys learning new tricks, making positive, reward-based training a lovely way for him and his new family to build their relationship. Nick enjoys spending time with other dogs and is good at adapting to different play styles. He could potentially live with another dog who will enjoy lots of play time and help Nick feel more secure as he adjusts to life in a home. For Nick, the key to a happy future is slow and steady. He is looking for someone who understands that building a relationship takes time and who will be patient while he learns that the world isn't such a scary place. A quiet home in a peaceful area, without lots of visitors or busy activity, would

    Perez

    €275adoption fee

    Lurcher Cross · 5 years · Male · Medium

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Perez has been patiently waiting since 2023 for a place to finally call his own. This relaxed and friendly lurcher has a gentle nature and enjoys easy-going walks where he can take in his surroundings at his own pace. He's always happy to meet new people and, while he can occasionally get a little jumpy in his excitement to make a new friend, it's all part of his sweet and affectionate personality. Perez is a real cuddle bug at heart. After a stroll or some playtime in the garden, you'll find him happily curled up in the comfiest spot he can claim. Perez is also a big fan of his food, which makes him a great candidate for enrichment activities. He loves puzzle feeders and games that keep his mind busy. He enjoys hopping into the car and is more than happy to join his people on little adventures, making him a wonderful companion for those who like to explore new places together. Perez forms strong bonds with his people and can find it difficult when they leave, so he would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time to help him gradually build confidence with being alone. He's looking to be the star of the show, which means he'll need to be the only pet in the home. He will also be happiest exploring quieter walking areas where he won't feel overwhelmed by lots of other dogs. With the right home, Perez will be a loyal, loving companion who brings warmth, comfort, plenty of cuddles to every single day.

    Maximus and Macy

    Dog

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

The most special of duos These two have waited a very long time, March 2024 will mark 4 years in rescue for this pair so we would love to find them a home before then. Both came to Almost Home separately in March 2020, along with a large number of failed hunting dogs, Max & Macy are now the last of those dogs to be rehomed. Macy (now around 8) arrived with her two sisters Mia & Madison. Madison, the most confident of the sisters was rehomed but Mia & Macy needed more time to build their confidence & trust in humans. Max (now around 5) is a beautiful but very shy boy around humans, it’s taken him a long time but he’s learnt to trust our volunteers and now enjoys little interactions and strokes with us every day. Last July our hearts were broken to discover that Mia was terminally ill and passed away, leaving Macy on her own. In an effort to keep her spirits up and to stop her feeling lonely, our team decided to pair Macy with Maximus and the two have been inseparable ever since. We previously had advertised Maximus for rehoming on his own, however the team have decided it would be in Max & Macy’s best interest to try to find them a forever home together. We appreciate that adopting not only one, but two shy dogs is not an easy undertaking for anyone, but we really believe there is a perfect home out there with the time, patience and love to give them – and we know the best things in life are always worth waiting for! We’re looking for …. a quiet settled home with no children under 14 A very secure garden A family willing to fully commit to giving this pair all the patience, time and love they will need to settle in their new family There will be a huge line of volunteers crying the happiest of tears on the day these two leave us to start their new journeys with their new family. We will miss them terribly, but we know the right family is out there for our beautiful Max & Macy… Could it be with you?

  • Red – Photo 1 of 1

    Red

    £250adoption fee

    Dog · Male

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Sadly, Red has been with us for over three years now. Red has some fears around meeting new people and appreciates a slow introduction to build a good relationship with him – but once he’s comfortable around you he is full of kisses and cuddles. This means that potential adopters would need to be prepared to make lots of visits to the Sanctuary over quite a period of time in order to build up a positive relationship with Red. Red also struggles with traffic and busy areas so he is in need of an active new home in a quiet area. Here at our Sanctuary he is exercised in our enclosed paddocks and is often taken off-site to quieter areas for calm walks – he travels really well in the car/van. Red has also shown reactivity to other dogs, he will need to be the only dog in the home. Red would be best suited in an adult only home and he will need an experienced owner who is capable of working through these issues. He is also a part of our April’s Wish programme – which will include sessions with a dog behaviourist pre- and post-adoption to help him transition into his new home. Red has so much love to give, when he feels safe and secure he piles this onto you, whether you want it or not, we hope someone eventually sees what we do in Red.
