    Delores

    Labrador · 4 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Everyone Meet Delores, Delores is a 4 year old Labrador. She is a gentle and loving girl in need of a patient and understanding family. This sweet girl came from a rough start in life and is now learning to trust humans and how fun it can be to be a free dog. Because of her background, Delores has some specific needs: • Another established dog in the home to help her feel secure and gain confidence. • A calm, patient forever friend who can take things slow and allow her to blossom at her own pace. • A quiet, loving environment where she can thrive. • A home with children 12+ Though she may be shy at first, Delores is incredibly sweet and responds well to kindness and consistency. Whilst at Almost Home Delores has begun to trust people and will enjoy a chin scratch. She enjoys lying stretched out in her own bed and happily plays with her Almost Home neighbours. She will require consistency with her lead training in her new home. With the right family, Delores will make an affectionate and loyal companion for any family willing to give her the time to shine. Do you think you could offer this special girl the home she has always deserved? Please apply below.

We absolutely hate to see a German Shepherd in rescue. They love long and deep and seldom do well in rescue. Velda however had known nothing in the way of care and has done really well with us. She is about 2..5 years old would be a total joy in a home of her own.

  • Fiyero – Photo 1 of 7

    Fiyero

    €275adoption fee

    Greyhound Cross · 5 years · Male · Large

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Fiyero is a big-hearted lurcher with an even bigger personality to match. This gentle giant thrives on affection and will happily soak up every bit of love and attention you have to offer. With his inquisitive nature, he enjoys taking life at a relaxed pace. Gentle wanders, new sights, and peaceful exploring are right up his street. When he's not out discovering the world, Fiyero fully embraces his inner couch potato. True to classic lurcher style, he's happiest snuggled into a cosy bed or, even better, stretched out on the sofa beside you. He also loves playtime with his toys and never says no to a tasty treat, which makes training both effective and enjoyable for him. Fiyero has been working hard on managing his big feelings around other dogs and continues to make great progress, but he'll thrive as the only pet in the home. He could live with older children who are comfortable around large, occasionally bouncy dogs, and he'd really benefit from having someone home often, especially in the early days, to help him settle in. If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and wonderfully affectionate companion, Fiyero may be the perfect addition to your family.

  • Lizzy – Photo 1 of 3

    Lizzy

    Cat · 14 years · Female

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Lizzy is approximately 14 years old. She is a friendly small cat with the loudest purr possible! Unfortunately for Lizzy, her beloved owner, died recently and she had been living outside for the last few months but is now in temporary foster home but she needs a little more attention that she is currently receiving. Lizzy loves nothing more than to sit on your lap and be petted. She likes to have her fur brushed and she will follow you around the house! She’s quite nervous of other cats and dogs so would suit someone without any other pets. Lizzy has no health issues and is neutered.

  • Bert – Photo 1 of 1

    Bert

    £250adoption fee

    Shih Tzu X · 8 years · Male

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Bert has had some negative experiences in his life which has led to some fears around meeting new people. Bert certainly appreciates a slow introduction but he is a little guy that’s worth taking the time to get to know. This means that potential adopters would need to be prepared to make lots of visits to the Sanctuary over quite a period of time in order to build up a positive relationship with Bert. When Bert learns to trust you get to see a lovely playful little guy full of energy. Bert also struggles with some resource guarding issues so we would prefer adopters to have knowledge of resource guarding and be prepared to manage this behaviour in a positive way. Bert will be part of our Aprils Wish program so you will have the added benefit of some sessions with a highly qualified behaviourist pre- and post- adoption in an effort to help you understand and manage Bert’s issues. Due to his issues, Bert will need an adult only home. Although Bert has been an only dog we will consider homes with other dogs pending successful meet and greets.

    Ben

    Cat · 4 years · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Ben, is a 4 year old male. Due to moving abroad for a year and plans falling through, Ben’s owner urgently needs to rehome Ben. He is a very playful and needy boy, he loves giving night-time cuddles and often sleeps in his owner’s arms. Ben is a foodie who will eat anything and is very vocal. He would need a patient owner who can give him plenty of attention, he’s very nervous and can get stressed easily so would need some time to adjust but will become a great addition to a family. Ben doesn’t have a good history with other cats but may get along with others if introduced properly.
