What RescuePets.ie is

RescuePets.ie brings together animals looking for homes from independent rescue organisations in Ireland and Northern Ireland, plus pets listed by their owners, so you can find them in one place and contact the people caring for them.

We are not a rescue. We don’t own, house, rehome or vouch for any animal, and we aren’t part of any adoption. Each rescue decides its own adoption process, home checks and fees, and any adoption is between you and the rescue or owner.

Listings and their accuracy

Rescue listings are taken from the rescues’ own public websites and updated daily, so an animal may already be reserved or rehomed, and details or fees may have changed. Always check with the rescue before making plans. Rescue content and photos belong to the rescues. If you represent a rescue and want something corrected or removed, email privacy@rescuepets.ie.

Your account

• You must be 18 or over to create an account.
• Give accurate information, and keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
• Rescue accounts are for people who work or volunteer with that rescue. We check with the rescue before an account can manage its listings.
• You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@rescuepets.ie.

Messaging rescues

When you message a rescue through the site:

• be honest about yourself and your home;
• be respectful, and don’t send spam, advertising or abusive messages;
• remember the rescue receives your message by email and may keep it.

Listing your own pet

If you list an animal for rehoming, you confirm that:

• the animal is yours, or you have the right to rehome it;
• everything in the listing, including the photos, is true and yours to share;
• you are rehoming, not breeding or trading: any fee is a reasonable rehoming fee;
• the animal is at least 8 weeks old;
• you follow the law that applies to rehoming animals, including microchipping and registration rules for dogs.

We review listings before they go live and may refuse, change or remove any listing.

What you must not do

• use the site for anything unlawful, or to sell animals for profit;
• pretend to be someone else, or a rescue you don’t work with;
• post content that is false, offensive or belongs to someone else;
• try to break, overload or get unauthorised access to the site or other people’s accounts.

We may remove content, or suspend or close accounts, that break these terms.

Our responsibility

We work to keep the site accurate and running, but we provide it as it is and can’t guarantee that it will always be available, error-free or up to date. We aren’t responsible for any animal’s health, temperament or history, for what rescues or owners tell you, or for any adoption or arrangement you make with them. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer, or any liability that can’t be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and tell account holders by email about significant changes. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts deal with any disputes. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts there.
