Wally is a 9yr old neutered Springer Spaniel. He acts his shoesize not his age, he has a lot of energy but loves cuddles and would make a superb walking partner or for a family with older children. He has been living with another dog for most of his life and after an introduction he should get on well with another dog. He is housetrained and will listen to commands like ‘sit’ and ‘come’ (though he does get overexcited sometimes). He LOVES socks and finding things you thought you lost! Wally loves to play, and is a really happy boy when a ball is involved- though his first love is exploring and sniffing anywhere he can get to. A home in a rural envirnment where he would have a nice sized garden to explore, sniff and play ball would be perfect for him! He isnt keen on being left alone so would benefit from someone that is largely around to apply for Wally, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals
Bella was a farm dog with little interest in working, then she was rehomed to a gentleman briefly before being surrendered to the sanctuary. Bella was not yet fully house trained but was making great progress. Bella is beautiful petite Border Collie with an adorable little personality, she really loves humans and company. Like many Collies she will not do well in kennels. Collies are highly sensitive to noise and the busy kennel environment will make it difficult for Bella to rest. Bella has also been diagnosed with hip dysplasia in our care – she is currently on a trial of pain medication to help with this. Breed experience will benefit your application. Bella has shown some reactivity to other dogs and likely hasn’t been well socialised previously so she will need to be the only dog in the home. Bella could live with children aged 13 + years with a sensible approach to dogs.
Meet Sunhat, a sweet and gentle little dog who is looking for a patient family to help her discover that the world is a safe and happy place. She can be nervous when faced with new experiences, having had very little exposure to the everyday sights and sounds that many dogs take in their stride. With time, understanding and kindness, Sunhat is sure to continue growing in confidence. Sunhat is looking for calm and patient adopters who will allow her to settle at her own pace and let her build trust in her own time. She will thrive in a peaceful home where she can make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed. A home with a fully secure garden is essential, giving Sunhat a safe place to explore and build her confidence while she learns to wear a collar and walk on a lead. Her new family will need to introduce this gradually using positive, reward based training, allowing her to progress at a pace that suits her. Sunhat could live with calm and understanding teenagers aged 16 years and over who will respect her space and allow her to build relationships on her own terms. Having a confident canine companion is essential for Sunhat. She looks to other dogs for reassurance and takes comfort from following their lead, so she will need to live with a friendly resident dog. Sunhat could also be rehomed alongside one of her friends, allowing them to begin their new adventures together. With patience, encouragement and plenty of love, Sunhat has all the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. Every small step she takes will be a huge achievement, and watching her confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding for the family lucky enough to welcome her home.
Meet Sandcastle, a sweet and delicate little dog who is ready to find a patient family to call her own. She has a gentle nature and is beginning to discover just how lovely love and attention can be. Although she can be a little unsure at first, it is clear that she wants to make friends and, given time, her affectionate side starts to shine through. Sandcastle is looking for calm and understanding adopters who will let her build confidence at her own pace. She enjoys having people around but will appreciate a family who will allow her to come to them when she feels comfortable, helping her continue to grow in confidence. She could live with gentle and respectful teenagers aged 14 years and over who will understand her sensitive nature and give her the space she needs to settle into home life. Although Sandcastle has lived with other dogs in the past, she would prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she can enjoy all the love and attention for herself. As Sandcastle has not yet learned to walk on a lead, she will need a home with a fully secure garden where she can safely explore and begin practising this important new skill. With patient, positive training, she will be able to build her confidence before taking on adventures further afield. For the right family, Sandcastle will be a wonderfully rewarding companion. With kindness, patience and plenty of reassurance, she is sure to blossom into a loyal little friend who will enjoy nothing more than sharing her life with the people she loves.

Mocha arrived into our care on the first of August as a private surrender directly to DDR. Thanks to the incredible support of our foster network, we were relieved to secure her a foster placement straight away — giving her the breathing space she needed and allowing us to learn more about her. From her time in foster, we now have a clearer picture of the type of home where Mocha will truly thrive. She is looking for a Pet Free and Child Free environment, where she can settle, decompress, and build her confidence at her own pace. Mocha is a lovely girl who deserves stability, understanding, and a calm home that can offer her routine and reassurance. We are now accepting applications of interest via email: 📧 rehoming@dundalkdogrescue.ie
Meet Sprinkles, a gentle little dog who is ready to find a family of his very own. Although he can be nervous at first, it is clear that Sprinkles really wants to make friends and, with a little time and patience, his sweet personality begins to shine through. Sprinkles has had very little experience of everyday life, so many of the things most dogs take in their stride are still new to him. He is looking for kind and understanding adopters who will allow him to settle at his own pace, paying close attention to his body language and giving him the space he needs to build trust and confidence. He could live with gentle and respectful teenagers aged 14 years and over who will understand that friendships with Sprinkles are built on patience and allowing him to come to them in his own time. A home with a very secure garden is essential, giving Sprinkles a safe place to practise wearing a collar and lead while he builds his confidence before venturing further afield. His new family will also need to continue his confidence training using positive, reward based methods to help him discover that the world can be a wonderful place. Sprinkles truly comes into his own when he has a confident canine companion by his side. He takes reassurance from other dogs and enjoys following their lead, so he will need to live with a friendly, confident resident dog. Sprinkles could also be rehomed alongside one of his more confident friends, allowing them to start their new adventures together. With time, patience and plenty of love, Sprinkles has all the potential to blossom into a loyal and devoted companion. If you have a calm home, a confident dog to show him the ropes and are happy to let him find his confidence at his own pace, Sprinkles could be the perfect addition to your family.
Meet Icecream, a gentle little dog who is looking for a very special home with adopters who understand that trust cannot be rushed. The most worried of his group, Icecream has had very little experience of the world around him and is still finding many everyday sights, sounds and interactions overwhelming. Although he is not yet ready to show his true personality, we know that with time, patience and kindness, he has every chance to blossom. Icecream is still worried by handling and will need a calm, quiet adult only home where he can settle at his own pace. His new family will need to be happy to give him the space he needs, allowing him to make the first move when he feels safe and ready. Building a relationship with Icecream will take time, but seeing his confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding. A home with a fully secure garden is essential, giving Icecream a safe place to explore, stretch his legs and begin gaining confidence. He is not yet ready to walk on a lead, so any lead training will need to be introduced gradually and only when he feels comfortable. It is possible that he may always prefer the security of his home environment, and his adopters should be prepared to let him progress at his own pace. Icecream takes great comfort from the company of other dogs and will need to live with a friendly, confident resident dog who can show him that the world is not so frightening after all. Icecream could also be rehomed alongside one of his more confident friends, giving them the opportunity to begin their new lives together. Icecream is looking for a family who will celebrate the little milestones, whether that is taking a treat from a hand, choosing to sit nearby or simply feeling safe enough to relax. Every step forward will be a huge achievement for this special little dog. If you have a peaceful home, a confident canine companion and all the patience in the world, you could help Icecream discover what it truly means to feel safe, loved and at home.
Meet Beachball, a gentle little dog who is quietly discovering that the world is not such a scary place after all. While he can be worried by new experiences, each day he grows a little more confident, and it is a joy to see his personality beginning to shine through. Beachball has had very little experience of everyday life, so he is looking for calm, patient adopters who will give him all the time he needs to settle in. He will not be the sort of dog who is ready to jump straight into adventures. Instead, he needs a family who will let him explore at his own pace, allowing trust to develop naturally without any pressure. A home with a fully secure garden is essential, giving Beachball a safe space to build his confidence while he learns to wear a collar and lead before taking on the wider world. One thing that really helps Beachball is having a confident canine friend by his side. He takes great comfort from other dogs and enjoys following their lead, so he will need to live with a friendly, confident resident dog who can show him that new experiences are nothing to fear. Beachball could also be rehomed alongside one of his more confident canine friends, giving them both the chance to begin their new lives together. Beachball is looking for an adult only home where he can enjoy a peaceful environment and continue building his confidence without the hustle and bustle of family life. With kindness, patience and a little encouragement, Beachball is already showing that there is a happy, affectionate little dog waiting to blossom. If you have a calm home, a confident canine companion and plenty of time to help him discover the joys of life, Beachball could be the perfect new addition to your family.

Type of home required: Meet Olly! He is a 3-year-old Collie Crossbreed Mix, and one of our amazing Underdogs. This means that he has been with us for over 6 months! Olly will thrive in a dedicated adult only home, and although he needs to be the only pet, he has been doing really well with building his confidence around other dogs! This means that he should be able to have dog walking buddies! Also, as Olly doesn’t like traffic passing by, a quiet, rural location will suit him best. Olly has some behaviour quirks that he will need to work on with his adopters and the Centre Training Team, so his new family will need to be ready and dedicated to this process! His adoption process will involve multiple meets here at the Centre, followed up by visits to the home with the Training Team. Olly can spend time alone in the home, but this should be introduced once he has settled into his new routines and environment. More information: Olly has lots of energy for playtime and silliness! He loves to play with water and zoom around wide-open spaces. Another awesome thing about Olly is that he is the smartest boy who loves to learn! He is always challenging himself to add more tricks and skills to his list. He would be an amazing dog for someone with an interest in training, or enrichm. Olly is a firm favourite here at the Rehoming Centre with all the staff, this is because of his happy personality and that super cute face that makes us all smile, we have no doubt he will do the same for his new family. If you think you could offer Olly his forever home, please follow the steps below and don't forget to favourite him in your application.
Sparky is a beautiful calm, gentle lurcher who walks well on a lead, follows basic commands, loves meeting new people and enjoys the attention from everyone he meets. Sparky is ready for a new chapter in his life, if you can offer him a home please get in touch!
Little Elodie is around two years old and is a sweet, quiet-natured little girl who can be a little shy when you first meet her. Give her a little time and patience, however, and you’ll soon see her lovely, happy personality begin to shine through. Elodie would ideally love a home with another friendly dog to help build her confidence and show her the ropes. That said, we would consider a home where she is the only dog if her family are around most of the time and can give her all the love, reassurance and companionship she needs. She’s a good girl who could happily live with sensible children aged 12 and over. All Elodie is looking for is a kind and understanding family who will let her settle at her own pace and watch her blossom into the wonderful companion we know she can be.

Arlo has a long history at the sanctuary, having been unsuccessful rehomed a number of times over the years. Return reasons have included redirected bite when splitting up Arlo from the other dog in the household while they were fighting. Arlo has also incidents around resource guarding., We have consulted professional dog behavioursts in the decision to offer Arlo for rehoming. They have likened finding the right person for Arlo to finding a unicorn so we need to be realistic in that Arlo may indeed stay at the sanctuary. We are looking for an exceptional special home for Arlo. The ideal home will be adult only without visiting children Arlo would be the only pet in the home An adopter with exceptional experience and knowledge on resource guarding or complex dog behaviour. A calm patient and responsible owner who will have strict management in place to allow Arlo to live a fulfilled and safe life, while keeping other people and animals safe. Despite Arlo’s obvious challenges he so much love to give and we are certainly getting to see that side of him at the sanctuary. Reading Arlos body language and responding in the correct way has allowed a small group of the team here to build a beautiful relationship with Arlo. One of Arlo’s favourite things is to come and edge himself in between your legs to present himself for a bum scratch, it’s adorable. We know this appeal will suit very few but we need to keep everyone safe, Arlo, the public, his adopter and the sanctuary reputation.
Tyler the saluki lurcher was found roaming the village of Carrignavar as a stray. He was secured by the County Council Dog Warden Service and brought here to us! He is the sweetest little nervous bean and quite small and slender for a lurcher. Will fit in perfect with a whippet/lurcher lover family. He is frightened in kennels we don’t blame him… it’s loud and a lot of dogs are signaling they are stressed! Our Kennel and Admin staff adore him and would take him home in a heart beat if they didn’t already have an array of dogs adopted from here! Thinking of adopting a dog Tyler may be the dog for you. As this wee man is only a year old at best so we advise a home with older mature children over the age of 14 at a minimum. Homecheck required by Cork City Council Dog Warden Service. Dog meet required onsite if you have any other dogs. Fully enclosed garden if you have a garden! All dogs regardless of age require training this will be expected if you adopt a dog from the CSPCA.
