  • Fawn – Photo 1 of 1

    Fawn

    Dog · Female

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Fawn came to us when she was a year old after having trained with the PSNI. Now nearly 4 years later Fawn still hasn’t found a home of her own. She would need a very experienced owner, with a deep understanding of dog behaviour to give her all the love and attention she needs. While other pups were being socialised, learning to play, how to behave in a home, Fawn was learning to do a job. As a result of this Fawn now needs a very specific home. We don’t know when we will find it but until we do we will make sure Fawn is happy & healthy and taken care of as best we can.

  • Lucas – Photo 1 of 1

    Lucas

    Dog · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Lucas was found as a stray and brought to the pound in the most disgusting state, very underweight, his skin was in such a bad way with red raw patches all over his body. He had 2 filthy collars on his neck so tight and a heavy chain hanging from one. Because of the abuse and neglect he suffered Lucas now finds it very hard to trust people. There are a few people he has learned to trust but this took time and experience. Lucas will now be extremely difficult to rehome so while he waits for his miracle we have promised to look after him for as long as it takes.

  • Zeus – Photo 1 of 1

    Zeus

    Dog · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Zeus came to us last year having spent 3 years locked in a filthy shed. He was locked away when he was only a pup so he was never shown any affection, any love or comfort or how to behave. Because of the abuse and neglect he suffered, Zeus has now become one of the more difficult dogs to rehome. So now Zeus will have to wait for that one in a million home. A home with an experienced owner, someone willing to take time to come and meet him, let him learn to trust, a home with a large secure garden where he can run and play and follow his owner around. Zeus is an extremely loyal dog, smart, resilient and so grateful for the little things most dogs take for granted.

  • Aozora and Bonnie – Photo 1 of 1
    Pair

    Aozora and Bonnie

    Dog · Female

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

What a fabulous pair of beauties and they are hoping to find a home together. Aozora dreams of a home where she will be the only doggy or another big dog to play with ( Bonnie) as she is very playful and will be spoilt rotten. Bonnie is quite a large dog of around 55kg, so small children won’t be suited to her as she is very clumsy and she will require a medium amount of exercise everyday. Bonnie is very good in the house and is toilet trained too. Bonnie loves people and absolutely loves giving everyone big hugs 🥰 She loves treats, bones, toys and sometimes balls. Bonnie also loves her walks, essentially if it involves dipping her feet into the water. Bonnie doesn’t like small or medium sized dogs so needs to be muzzled walking but is muzzle trained and doesn’t mind it. She walks good on the lead. She needs an enclosed garden. Bonnie isn’t cat friendly.

  • Tyson – Photo 1 of 1

    Tyson

    Dog · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Tyson’s journey with us started when he was just a year old. His previous owner, who cherished him as a guard dog and loyal companion tragically passed away. Now like many others Tyson faces challenges finding a home. Not every dog can be the park-friendly, cat-loving, universally social shepherd. Tyson would thrive in a home with an experienced owner who will take the time to properly introduce him to new people. He would adore his new owner and be an incredibly loyal companion.

  • Loki – Photo 1 of 1

    Loki

    €200adoption fee

    Collie · 3 years · Male

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Loki is a super bright, gorgeous and affectionate 3 year old black and white collie who bonded very quickly with our family. He is so tuned he knows just when he is allowed up to hug or curl up on the couch beside you. He loves belly rubs and scratches under his chin and on his chest. He can almost talk! When we come home from work he has a lovely growl that sounds just like ‘Helllloooo’. Loki loves to play and still at times gets the zoomies if he wants to play. He loves tug on a rope, tracking games, foraging, and walks and is not afraid of water. With promise of a treat he is super fast to ‘sit’, ‘lie down’, ‘roll over’, ‘come’, ‘touch’, ‘through’, ‘find me’ , ‘wait’ , ‘stay’ and ‘cross (the road)’. Once exercised Loki is then very happy to chillout for large parts of the day. Loki’s breakfast is at 7am and dinner is at 5pm. We usually hold some food back during the day to work on training. We use Red Mills Engage Salmon for a good diet as he had a sensitive tummy when he came to us. Now though he also is mad for little pieces of carrot or cheese, or rabbit or fish dog treats. Loki is generally well behaved off lead and makes good choices skirting around other dogs at the beach. He prefers human company though. He enjoys walking on a longish lead where it is quiet and familiar. While Loki is excellent within our family of 5 (3 adults and 2 teenagers), we got him when he was nearly 2 and he seemed to have had a rough time before then. He was skinny in the beginning, he healed and gained weight. At the start he worried and drew back if anyone went to pet him from the right or touch his collar, he still hesitates in doorways, seemingly worried he will be locked in or out. If we plump the cushions he seems to think we’re being aggressive and he will try to stop us. Our house is a busy one with lots of visitors during the week, there can be lots of noise and routine changes all the time. While Loki is pretty good with strangers we meet out walking, in our house Loki can be anxious around visitors, especially anxious visitors! He is scared of the vet too, and in these kinds of situations he may try to control the situation by snapping. To live his best life Loki needs a quiet home of 1 or 2 adults who are calm, confident and responsive to the ongoing rehabilitation needs of this bright, sensitive and very gorgeous collie. He is a wonderful companion for the right owners Loki does have a history of bieng reactive to certain triggers within the home, and does have a history of snapping/snarling/lunging when such triggers present. so an experienced home is a must to apply for Loki, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals

    Zena

    €200adoption fee

    Terrier · 8 years · Female

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Meet Zena – A Golden-Hearted Girl with So Much Love to Give 🐾 At 8 years old, Zena is a calm, affectionate Staffordshire Bull Terrier who’s ready to spend her golden years in a home filled with love, comfort, and companionship. She may be a little older, but don’t let that fool you—Zena still enjoys gentle walks, a good sniff in the park, and, most of all, curling up beside her favorite humans. Zena has a sweet, gentle nature that wins over everyone she meets. She’s well-mannered, housetrained, and happiest in a quiet, predictable environment where she can truly relax and be herself. While she prefers to be the only pet in the home (she likes having all the love to herself!), Zena makes a deeply loyal and loving companion. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped—ready to move in and start her new chapter with someone who sees the beauty in giving a senior dog a second chance. 💛 Zena is proof that the best love often comes with a little grey around the muzzle. In the rescue, he loves to get out on long walks and tummy rubs and doesnt give us any hassle. However, in a home environment he does have severe guarding issues and will snap! • Loki – Photo 1 of 8

    Loki

    €275adoption fee

Terrier (Boston) Cross · 3 years · Male · Small

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Loki is a sweet young pup with a heart full of love and potential. While he can be a little unsure when faced with new people or situations, once he feels safe and secure, his affectionate and playful personality truly shines. Loki is looking for a patient and understanding family who can help him continue his training and build his confidence at his own pace. He thrives on routine, gentle guidance, and lots of positive reinforcement. Food is one of Loki's favourite things. Sometimes a little too much! Because of this, he appreciates having his own space during mealtimes and when enjoying tasty treats. This playful pup absolutely loves his squeaky toys and a good game of tug-of-war. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and can get quite excited during play, so ongoing guidance to help him learn calmer play manners will be important. Loki would do best in a calm, adult-only home or with older teens. He's hoping for someone who is home often, at least while he settles in, and can help him gradually learn that it's okay to be on his own sometimes. With the right support, Loki will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Could you be the home he's been waiting for?

    €275adoption fee

    Lurcher Cross · 2 years · Female · Medium

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Phoebe is a young, playful lurcher full of potential. Beneath her shy and cautious exterior lies a giddy, fun-loving spirit who absolutely adores toys, playtime, and mealtimes. Once she begins to feel safe, her cheeky and joyful side starts to shine through and it's a beautiful thing to witness. Though the world can feel like a scary place for Phoebe, she's already showing just how brave she can be. She's recently begun taking short walks on lead and is slowly building trust with new people, expanding her little circle of comfort step by step. What Phoebe needs most is an understanding, patient home with adults who are willing to go at her pace. She'll thrive in a calm, stable environment where someone is around most of the time, especially in the beginning. Her ideal family will be committed to helping her build confidence through positive reinforcement, gentle guidance, and consistent support. • Teddy – Photo 1 of 1

    Teddy

    £250adoption fee

    Terrier type · 9 years · Male

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Teddy was sadly returned to us after being adopted in January last year. Teddy has a history of resource guarding of anything he finds valuable – this has led to bites in his previous home and here at the Sanctuary so this is something that we would want any potential adopter to be fully aware of and comfortable managing potential issues. We have had Teddy checked very thoroughly by our vet in case he was in any sort of pain. Teddy is quite the little character here. He’s not a fan of long walks but prefers to spend time pottering about and playing with toys. Teddy would benefit most from an experienced adopter with some knowledge in working with resource guarding and training with positive reinforcement. Teddy will need an adult only home with no visiting children but he may be able to live with another dog after successful meet and greets. Teddy will also be a part of our April’s Wish programme – where you would benefit from some sessions with a behaviourist during the adoption process to help him transition from the Sanctuary to his new home.

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Waiting 6 months now to be noticed………………. Koda is over a year old. A striking mix. We arent sure of the breed. There is about a quarter staffie and the rest lab and lurcher. She is medium in size. Koda is house and crate trained. Great on the lead and when encountering other dogs on walks. Koda has also had obedience training. She has no history with small children. An home experienced with the breed would be ideal for girl. No cats for Koda. Koda is such a loving girl and has moved around a bit. She is looking for a patient home to let her settle. Fine out meeting dogs on the lead but best as the only dog in the home. Children over 12 for Koda as she doesnt realise her strength when playing. She loves to play fetch.
