    Serena

    €245adoption fee

    Boxer / Labrador · Female · Large

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Meet the lovely Serena! Serena came into the NSPCA from another rescue in search of her forever home. She is a super social girl with other dogs but is nervous of people. Her ideal home would be a multidog household with some enclosed garden space for her to run and play. She will need an adult only home due to being nervous, a home with a family who will understand it will take Serena time to gain confidence and they may need to visit her several times before they can take her home. Can you give a young girl the chance she deserves? To adopt a dog from our Dublin center, we highly recommend a visit to our site on Mount Venus Road. We are open Tuesday to Sunday 12-4 and no appointment is needed to visit. You can chat to the team about any suitable dogs for your family, fill in an application onsite and most importantly… meet with any suitable dogs! Alternatively you can fill out an online expression of interest and you will hear from our team via phone or email over the coming days. Please be advised an online expression of interest does not reserve a dog, a visit to the center will still be required to activate your application and you may need to fill in further forms on your visit.

  • Max – Photo 1 of 6

    Max

Glen of Imaal Terrier · 6 years · Male · Small

    Co. Louth, Ireland

Max came into the Louth County Pound when his owner moved home and could no longer take him along. He had lived his entire life outdoors, and suddenly found himself without the only world he knew. Now safe in our care, Max is taking everything in slowly. He’s a little overwhelmed — new faces, new dogs, new routines — but that’s only natural for a senior boy who hasn’t known much change. What he has known is loyalty, and we see that in his eyes already. Our volunteers are gently working their magic, offering reassurance, kindness, and consistency. Max is beginning to understand that he’s safe, and that better days are coming. Senior dogs like Max deserve soft beds, warm rooms, and people who won’t let them down again. Our adoption policy requires all dogs to live indoors as part of the family — and for older dogs, that comfort and security is especially important. If you would like to be considered for Max and help him enjoy the rest of his life with dignity, love, and stability, please get in touch! If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please contact our rehoming team on rehoming@dundalkdogrescue.ie

  • Ollie – Photo 1 of 1

    Ollie

    Lurcher x · 1 year · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Ollie Ollie is a young Lurcher, around a year old, who is slowly discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. When Ollie first arrived in our care alongside his brother Stan, he was extremely frightened and unsure of everything around him. He clearly hadn’t had the best start in life, but with patience, kindness, and understanding, we’re beginning to see the wonderful dog hidden beneath his worries. Ollie can be nervous and skittish when meeting new people and experiencing new situations, but once he learns to trust you, he is a sweet-natured, gentle boy who will give you his whole heart. Building that trust takes time, but the reward is a loyal and devoted companion. He is making great progress and is learning to walk nicely on the lead, growing in confidence every day. Ollie could happily share his home with another dog, and we feel he would particularly benefit from living with a calm, confident female dog who could help show him the ropes and teach him that life can be fun and safe. Ollie is looking for a quiet, settled home with children aged 12 years and over who are dog-savvy and able to understand when he needs a little space and reassurance. His new family will need to be patient and willing to let him settle at his own pace. For someone prepared to invest the time and understanding he deserves, Ollie will be an incredibly rewarding companion and a very special friend.

  • Zena – Photo 1 of 1

    Zena

    €150adoption fee

    Dog · 2 years · Female

    Co. Mayo, Ireland

a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } One Year Is Long Enough… Meet Zena For the past year, Zena has watched families come and go, hoping each day that someone might choose her. This sweet 2-year-old mixed breed girl arrived at the shelter through no fault of her own. Her family loved her dearly but were unable to find pet-friendly accommodation and were heartbroken to leave her behind. Zena is thought to be a German Shepherd and Border Collie cross, and she has inherited the loyal, people-focused nature these breeds are famous for. She craves companionship, loves affection, and dreams of having someone special to call her own. She’s a large dog with a gentle, loving personality. Zena enjoys cuddles, has experience living with another dog, and regularly socialises with other large dogs during shelter playdates. She could potentially live with another dog following a suitable introduction. Because of her shepherd background, Zena can find being left alone difficult and would benefit from an owner who understands the importance of building confidence and maintaining a strong bond. She would be best suited to a home with children over 10 years old as she is a big dog. Zena is looking for an indoor family home with a secure garden where she can finally relax and belong. A quieter rural environment would suit her best. Zena has done mantrailing training with Oracle Dogs and regularly goes on playdates with dogs her own size in Woofland dog park. She has already waited a year. Now all she needs is someone willing to give her a chance. Zena had a great few days with one of our volenteers recently who had a few days off work. They took her home to give her a break from the kennel life. Here’s what she had to say about Zena: “She was brilliant all the time and settled quite well, she would play football with my son in the garden and left us alone while we ate, no begging for food at the table, she loved hanging around us while we were doing some DIY in the house, she was very clean in the house and slept in her own bed at night, we really hope Zena will find her forever home soon”. Zenas ideal home would be with someone who has experience with the shepherd breed, a house with children over 10, this is just due to her size, an active home with a secure garden. Could you be the person who changes Zena’s life forever?

    Marshall

    €275adoption fee

Retriever (Labrador) Cross · 7 years · Male · Large

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Marshall is a sensitive soul who takes a little time to get to know, but those who earn his trust are rewarded with the company of a truly special dog. Behind his shy exterior is a bright, affectionate boy who enjoys the quieter side of life and forms deep, meaningful bonds with the people he loves. Marshall thrives in the company of familiar faces and enjoys affection, companionship, and being part of everyday life. Once he feels comfortable, his loyal and loving nature shines through, and he is happiest when spending quality time with his trusted humans. As a typical Collie cross, Marshall has an intelligent mind and strong natural instincts. He flourishes when given opportunities to engage both his brain and body. Herding-style games are a particular favourite, allowing him to stalk, chase, problem-solve, and channel his instincts in a positive way. These activities help keep him mentally stimulated and physically fulfilled. Marshall is looking for an adult-only home where he can be the centre of attention as the only pet. His ideal family will be patient and understanding, giving him the time and space he needs to settle in and build trust at his own pace. They will also be committed to continuing his training and providing the calm, stable environment where he can truly thrive. In the right home, Marshall will be a devoted companion whose affection and loyalty are well worth the wait. Type of home required: Marshell is looking for a quiet, adult only home in a rural or semi-rural area where he can grow in confidence and build a loving bond with his forever family. He will need an adopter who is rarely away from home as he struggles with being left alone. Most of all he needs a special someone who will give him the time, space and love that he deserves.

  • Freddie – Photo 1 of 1

    Freddie

    £250adoption fee

    Cavalier x Bichon · 7 1/2 years · Male

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Freddie has had numerous stays in the sanctuary. We are determined that Freddies next adoption will be successful. Freddie has displayed aggression on numerous occasions in the past. Most of these incidents have been around resource guarding of items he considers valuable to him, or reacting fearfully when being interrupted where he is resting. Our behaviourist has indicated there may have been a pain element to this. Freddie has now been on a pain relief and hopefully he will be more comfortable in future. Cute things about Freddie – His little underbite. The way he waddles when he walks. His fave toys- dinosaur, octopus and caterpillar. His enthusiast morning greetings to his fave people. Freddie is the most clearest example we have seen of a dog preferring women over men. With having had so many unsuccessful adoptions we will now saying that Freddie should live in a female only home. There must be no children living or visiting the home. Prospective adopters should be prepared to work with our behaviourist and staff at the sanctuary to help set the home and Freddie up for success. Adopters should be tuned in to dog body language and have experience of dealing with similar behaviour issues. Some small dogs feel the need to shout louder to be listened to so it is important we listen to Freddie’s communication. Assistance will be provided by way of our Aprils Wish program to help with behaviour. Further assistance will be provided by our supported adoption scheme where we will continue to pay for Freddie’s pain relief. Freddie may be able to live with another dog pending successful meet and greets. We will contact you if we are moving forward with your application.

Collie (Border) Cross · 7 years · Male · Large

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Jacksie forms incredibly strong and devoted bonds with his people and loves nothing more than spending quality time with those he trusts. A good cuddle and plenty of pets are high on his list of favourite things, especially if he can enjoy them while soaking up the sunshine. Sunbathing is one of Jacksie's favourite pastimes, and you'll often find him happily stretched out in a warm spot, watching the world go by. When he's not relaxing, Jacksie loves to play. A game of football is guaranteed to get his tail wagging, and he enjoys having fun with his favourite people. He's also a clever boy who loves learning new things and would thrive with a family who are committed to continuing his training and helping him build his confidence. Jacksie can find loud noises and busy environments overwhelming, so he is hoping to find a calm and quiet home where he can settle into a predictable routine. With patient and understanding owners, he will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Due to his fear of children, Jacksie is looking for an adult-only home. He will need a household with no visiting children and no future plans for children, allowing him to feel safe and secure in his environment. For the right family, Jacksie will be a devoted best friend, offering endless loyalty, affection, and companionship in return for the love and understanding he deserves.

    €250adoption fee

    Lurcher · 2 years · Male · Medium

    Co. Kildare, Ireland

2 year old Chief is a gentle, sweetheart of a lurcher who is currently enjoying the comforts of a great foster home. Still a bit nervous of the outside world, Chief is steadily gaining in confidence and coming out of his shell. His favourite thing to do is chill on the couch, preferably snuggled up close to his human where he can enjoy being cuddled. Chief has recovered from a broken leg injury and is not yet venturing out on walks owing to his recovery and his timidness. Sudden noises startle him but he is gradually getting used to normal household sounds. Chief can be left alone without issue either in a crate or without, is very food motivated and is so quiet you can forget he is even there. He needs a home with a nice big couch and a patient owner who will allow him to build trust and confidence. Chief is not suited to sharing his home with another dog or cat as he tends to resource-guard owing to his fearfulness. He needs a very special owner who is sympathetic to his fear-based behaviours and who is experienced enough with dogs to allow him feel relaxed and help him reach his full potential.

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Violet is a spunky little terrier with a big personality wrapped up in a small, adorable package. She's had a tough few months and has shown incredible resilience even when she had to have one eye removed due to an old injury. Despite everything, Violet's spirit shines through. But once she feels safe and comfortable, she becomes a wonderfully cuddly companion who enjoys gentle affection and quiet moments by your side. True to her terrier nature, Violet also has an independent streak. She prefers to explore at her own pace and isn't a fan of being picked up. Walking and wandering under her own steam is much more her style. Violet is seeking a calm, quiet home as the only pet, ideally in a peaceful area away from busy streets and heavy traffic. She isn't keen on other dogs, so she'll thrive with owners who can give her tranquil walks where she won't have to encounter many canine neighbours.
