Athena, Buck, Chimney, Eddie, Hen and Beans

    €100adoption fee

    Cat

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Our fabulous bottle babies, and their bonus brother Beans, are officially ready to take the next step in their little adventure..... finding their forever families! Believe us when we say that this bunch of bounciness is not for the faint hearted! Athena, Buck, Chimney, Eddie, Hen and Beans are six happy, confident and ridiculously entertaining little characters who are full of energy, curiosity and have a zest for life. They are at the age where everything is exciting, everything is a game and apparently everything needs to be investigated! Because kittens are happiest with a feline friend to grow up with, these little ones will be rehomed in pairs. They all get along wonderfully but some sibling combinations have formed particularly strong bonds and complement each other better than others. So rather than simply picking two kittens, we will help match each one with the sibling who is the best fit for them and their family. Like all our kittens, they must live indoors as part of the family. Safe outdoor access when they are older is a bonus, but it isn't essential. They can live with respectful children and other cats and, having started their lives in foster care alongside dogs, they have already had a great introduction to the world around them. Of course, like all kittens and cats we rehome they are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered before adoption. What they need now is a family ready for the fun, the zoomies, the mischief, the cuddles and all the adventures that come with raising kittens. We think they are pretty special. Now they just need the families who will think so too. Please remember that these kittens will be carefully matched and rehomed as pairs, with their personalities and relationships taken into consideration to give them the very best chance of a happy life together.

    Gruffalo Kittens

    €100adoption fee

    Cat

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Our Gruffalo litter weren’t quite sure how to react to the news that their lovely mum, Owl, had found her forever home on Saturday. But they were very happy to hear that they’re now ready to start their own search for forever families! Tiddler, Zog, Frog, Squirrel and Gruffalo are all looking for their forever homes. As they are a close knit, playful bunch, we’re looking to home them in pairs or with another young, social and playful cat because kittenhood is even better with a friend! As with all our wonderful kittens, they will be looking for indoor homes where they will be part of the family. We do not home our kittens to sheds, garages, outbuildings or similar accommodation. All of our kittens are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered before adoption, and most importantly, we take the time to match each kitten with a home that is right for their individual needs and personality. Could you be the forever family these little characters has been waiting for?

    Rip & Tuna

    €100adoption fee

    Cat

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Rip & Tuna are two little souls who found each other and became inseparable. Rip is a happy go lucky little guy with a huge personality. He is incredibly affectionate, adores his cuddles and is always ready for a bit of fun. He has such a lovely, easy going nature although if you open a packet of crisps, be warned as he will be straight over to see what’s on offer! Tuna is a little more shy and cautious when he first meets you. He looks to Rip for reassurance and encouragement, but once he feels safe and comes out of his shell, he is the sweetest, chattiest little fella. He loves his pets, his cuddles and being around his favourite people. These two aren't brothers by blood, but they are brothers in every way that matters. Their bond is incredibly special, and they are truly inseparable. Rip gives Tuna the confidence he needs, while Tuna is never far from Rip's side. Rip was once a tiny bottle baby, while Tuna was found alone and frightened. In their caring foster home they found each other and have never looked back. They are looking for a loving home together where they can continue to grow in confidence, have plenty of attention and, most importantly, never have to be without each other. Two different personalities. One very special bond. One forever home.

  • Tova – Photo 1 of 4

    Tova

    €250adoption fee

    Dog · 6 years · Female

    Co. Galway, Ireland

After many months of rehabilitation, Tova has started the search for her forever home. After an intense few months our kennel team worked hard to teach Tova that not all humans are bad and Tova reached at a point where she was ready to go into into a foster home. She has done really well under the care of her foster Mum, doggy friends and cat friends. Meet the beautiful six-year-old, Tova. Having come from a traumatic past, this sweet girl is now learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and wanted. Tova is still finding her confidence and is not going to shower you with love right away but, every day, she is making little steps forward. She is learning to enjoy touch and affection, and once she trusts you, she has so much love to give and she has recently decided that she adores belly rubs! Tova is great with other dogs, great with cats, loves car rides, is house-trained, and is excellent on a leash. She's a tough little cookie, underneath her shyness, and can be a little cheeky and stubborn and definitely has a mind of her own! Tova absolutely MUST live in a home with at least one dog, or more, who will be an important part of helping her continue to blossom. She will not be rehomed as an only dog as she finds a huge amount of comfort in her doggie foster siblings. She needs someone patient who understands that she will not become an affectionate, confident dog overnight. She has spent six years thinking that the world isn't always a safe place and now she deserves the time, patience and kindness to learn that it can be. She is looking for someone who will celebrate the tiny victories, never rush her, and show her that she is finally safe. We feel that a quiet rural/semi rural home will suit her best without too many comings and goings but there must be a fully secure garden where Tova can enjoy some pottering and playtime. We also feel a home without young children is best suited to her needs. Tova is spayed, chipped and vaccinated and she will need grooming a few times a year.

    Dog · Female

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Rescued nine months ago, as 5/6 week old babies, from horrendous living conditions and Cashel(f) is still hoping to find her forever home. Cashel is a little shy but also has her fun loving, playful side. She was so afraid of us at the start that it's lovely to see her sweet personality shine through. She could probably benefit the most from having another kind dog in the home. As with all our pups we are looking for homes where there will be somebody at home/working from home as puppies need a lot of company and supervision. We see no reason why they cannot learn to live with dog savvy cats or respectful children. They can also live with other kind dogs. Please remember that puppies can have very sharp teeth and nails which may be too much for very young children .

Ada, our senior lady, came into our care with her final baby. Sadly, he was too sick and passed away shortly after arrival. She is now spayed and has completed her vet work. Ada is in her senior years, she is at least 14, and we are hoping to find her a calm and loving home to retire to. Ada can live with other cats, once they allow her space and she has lived with an energetic dog and knows how to avoid and, also, reprimand, if needed! Ada is a sweetheart who just wants a peaceful life and occasional cuddles. If you can offer our senior lady her forever home please complete an adoption application form.

Anu arrived with us heavily pregnant, frightened and unsure of the world around her. Thankfully a safe, quiet and peaceful foster home was waiting for her, where foster mum Edel gave her the time, patience and security she needed to relax and raise her beautiful babies. Now Anu has returned to our cattery, while her babies have stayed with Edel a little longer. We would absolutely love to see them all find their forever families soon, so their next chapter can begin. Anu has a naturally gentle and slightly reserved and timid nature. €100adoption fee

    Cat

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Beignet, Shortcake, Eclair and Macaroon have spent the last two months in the most wonderful foster home and what a difference those two months has made! Eclair is the ultimate velcro baby affectionate, gentle, incredibly people oriented and happiest when he is with his humans. He loves cuddles, follows his favourite people around and is always ready to make friend. He is also wonderfully chatty and has the funniest little high pitched meow! Macaroon is his confident, lively little partner in crime. She is affectionate, curious, extremely playful and very much the leader of this little gang. She loves people, loves attention and is usually the first to investigate anything new! Eclair absolutely adores her. They cuddle, groom and play together and Eclair often looks to Macaroon for confidence and reassurance. They really do complement each other beautifully. We would especially love Eclair and Macaroon to be adopted together too. What makes these four so special isn't just their individual personalities it is the relationships they've built along the way and that brings us to their incredible foster family. We cannot thank their foster family enough for everything they have done for these kittens! They haven't simply cared for four kittens for two months. They have taken the time to understand them, earn their trust, recognise their individual needs and, most importantly, give them the security to become confident little personalities. Now it's time for this pair to find their forever family. Eclair & Macaroon, two affectionate, playful little partners in crime.

  • Jury – Photo 1 of 3

    Jury

    €250adoption fee

    Dog · 7/8 months · Male

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Five weeks ago we were called out late on a Saturday evening to rescue 3 abandoned pups on Ballinasloe Bog. It was very clear to the team that the pups were, not only, traumatised by being abandoned but that they had had little, if any, human socialisation. They had the appearance of "shed dogs" with their filthy matted coats and were very underweight. Rescuing unsocialised dogs doesn't just stop once they have been brought to safety. The Kennel team steps in and, depending on the individual dog, begins to work with them to get them to a point where they are ready-ish for rehoming. And that takes time. The 3 pups hid away from us, for the first week, and their progress was slow but everyday we kept going. Jury took the longest to trust us and is naturally a little bit of a loner, often choosing to sit out on his own than with his siblings but also because he seems to be the black sheep of the trio. He is now much more relaxed in our company and comes willingly up for a rub but he can be a little unsure, at times. Going forward into a home Jury will most definitely need another confident and kind dog who can give him confidence. We would say a home without children under 12 whilst he starts his learning curve. All 3 of these siblings have made a trip into our local forest for a short walk and they exceeded our expectations. They absolutely loved it and had no fears around the carpark, coffee van and when meeting walkers on the trails. They even had puppicinos afterwards. That said they would have had the comfort of one another which helped greatly. While we have worked hard to bring these pups to this point, there is still work to be done by those looking to adopt them. We think they are Shepherd/Collie crosses so they will need homes willing to work not just their legs but, also, their minds. They need patience and gentle hands while they adapt to home life and a whole new world, but they really do have the capacity to listen and learn. They have the sweetest personalities and even, during the early days when all 3 were extremely scared and untrusting, they allowed us to corner them just so we could handle them without any repercussions, remaining submissive always. Judge, Jury and Alibi are approximately 7/8 months old and too young to be neutered or spayed, so they can only be homed with other dogs who are already neutered/spayed. They will make 3 of the most amazing and loyal dogs but that will take time, routine, patience and love. It will be the most rewarding journey as these pups have big and kind hearts inside.

    The Yanks

    €100adoption fee

    Cat

    Co. Galway, Ireland

When filming wrapped on RTÉ’s upcoming series The Yank and the production team thought they were saying goodbye to Connemara with everything packed up and ready to go, but Connemara had other plans. With the last bits of equipment were packed and loaded, they discovered four tiny kittens who most definitely hadn’t been part of the original cast. The team searched the area but sadly there was no sign of a mum. Rather than leaving them behind, one of the production team gathered up the little foursome and contacted us to see if we could help. Arrangements were made for them to come into our care the following day and what a transformation they have had since! Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx and Staten have gone from four tiny, unexpected visitors to four gorgeous, confident and playful kittens who are now ready for the next chapter of their story, their forever homes! These four are very sociable youngsters and, as always, our priority will be finding them homes in pairs. Kittens do best with another young cat who can match their energy, play with them and keep them company. We will consider individual homes where there is already a young, active and social cat who would appreciate a little feline companion. They can also live with respectful children and cat savvy dogs, with careful introductions! Four little kittens who were never supposed to be part of the production have now been given their chance at a starring role of their own, a starring role in someone’s family. So while The Yank will be hitting our screens before the end of the year, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx and Staten are looking for their own happily ever after much sooner! No scripts, no retakes, just a loving home, lots of fun and a lifetime of being adored! A huge thank you to the production team behind The Yank for the kindness they showed these little unexpected extras. With filming finished and everyone busy wrapping up, they could easily have walked away and left the kittens behind. Instead, they stopped to help, searched for their mum, gathered the kittens safely and made sure they got the care they needed.

Did you hear??? There’s a new boss in town and he is bigger than the last!!! Joey headed off to his forever home this week and when Fred heard there was an opening in our Galway SPCA Shop, Briarhill he decided it was time for a promotion from Office Admin to Shop Floor Security! Fred is absolutely loving his new role and all the attention that comes with it. He is completely unfazed by the hustle and bustle of the shop and seems very happy to supervise everything going on around him! While Fred is enjoying his new position, he is still looking for his forever home. At 11 years old, Fred is one of those cats who can easily be overlooked while younger cats and kittens are also waiting. Senior cats have so much love to give and Fred certainly has plenty of affection to share. So while he waits for someone to see just how special he is, we’re making sure Fred gets all the attention, fuss and affection he could possibly want. And, of course, he’ll be keeping a very close eye on the shop in the meantime because, apparently, that’s what the new boss does!

    Sighthounds

    €250adoption fee

    Dog

    Co. Galway, Ireland

We regularly have suitable greyhounds, lurchers and salukis that are looking for homes. These breeds, known as Sighthounds, are often misunderstood yet surprisingly make the most fabulous addition to a home, particularly if you are looking for a lower maintenance, quieter dog. Kind, gentle and comfort loving, usually great travellers in the car they are often clean in the home from day one (with input from the home to help them learn the routine) and they don't need as much exercise as you would think. For most pet Greyhound owners - once you are a convert there is no going back! If you would like to learn more about Sighthounds, please complete a dog adoption application form and add a note that you would like to talk to someone to learn a little more about Sighthounds or to find out if one would suit your home, family and lifestyle. Then one of the dog rehoming team will get in contact with you. Frequently asked questions: What is a sighthound? A sighthound is any breed that relied on sight and speed, more than scent, to hunt. This includes salukis, wolfhounds, whippets and greyhounds. A lurcher is any dog with a sighthound as a mother or father. Are Sighthounds good with children? As with every adoption it is about finding a sighthound that is suitable to the age of your child/children. Teaching your children the importance of living with a dog is the responsibility of a parent. Children need to learn to behave safely around dogs and know that if a dog is on its bed, sleeping or eating, it should be left alone. Why do I need a homecheck? In some cases it will be a sighthounds first time in a home so before we release a dog from our Heathlawn family to yours we want to ensure a smooth and successful transition. Sighthounds thrive with a routine and we want to make sure you are adopting the right dog for your family and lifestyle and that everyone in the family is happy with the decision to adopt. During a home check it is likely that we will know the name of the sighthound that you have been matched with and therefore we want to see that your garden (if you have one) is sufficiently secure. If it is not, we will make recommendations on how you can improve it and progress to the next stage once evidence of the improvements have been submitted to your home checker. What does a sighthound eat? The same as any other dog! We suggest that you look for better quality dog foods and find a regime that suits your dog, be it a dry food, wet food, raw or a combination. Our team is happy to advise about feeding. Sighthounds have no specific dietary requirements and would eat around the same volume as any large dog like a Labrador or Pointer.

Beignet, Shortcake, Eclair and Macaroon have spent the last two months in the most wonderful foster home and what a difference those two months has made! When Beignet first arrived she was an incredibly frightened little girl. She hid for long periods, wouldn't interact with her foster family and initially wouldn't even play with her siblings. Slowly, with patience and reassurance, she began to trust. Her first tiny purr after a week and a half was a very special moment and now she comes over for attention, plays, explores and purrs away happily. She is still a sensitive little soul who needs time, patience and people who will respect her boundaries. She is easily frightened by loud noises and sudden movements and wouldn't be suited to a busy home, young children or dogs. But Beignet has found her confidence in Shortcake! Shortcake is her complete opposite in many ways. From a very young age, like when her eyes first opened Shortcake has had an look that says it all. This confident, clever, independent lady, very much the little queen, knows exactly what she wants! She loves affection, on her terms, enjoys a cuddle when she's sleepy and has a wonderful relationship with all her siblings. But its Beignet she seems to understand particularly well, and her confidence helps Beignet feel safe. We would love Beignet and Shortcake to find their forever home together! For Beignet especially, that patience has changed everything. There is nothing quite like watching a frightened kitten slowly learn that people can be trusted and knowing that her foster family gave her the time she needed to discover that. Now it's time for this pair to find their forever family. Beignet & Shortcake, a sensitive little soul and her confident companion.
