Bonnie is a beautiful Lurcher, around 2.5 years old, who is waiting for someone to give her a chance. Bonnie is an incredibly shy girl who finds the world a very frightening place. When she first arrived with us, even the simplest interactions were overwhelming for her. But slowly, at her own pace, she has been learning that people can be kind. After 17 weeks in the shelter, Bonnie is only now beginning to allow us to gently pet her. It might seem like a small step, but for Bonnie, it’s a huge milestone. Every little bit of trust she gives us is precious, and it shows just how much potential this special girl has when she feels safe. Bonnie needs a very particular home. She will need someone with patience, understanding and realistic expectations who won’t rush her or expect her to become a confident, cuddly dog overnight. She needs the freedom to settle in at her own pace, with every little achievement celebrated along the way. We believe Bonnie could really benefit from living with confident, friendly dogs who can help show her the ropes and give her reassurance as she learns to navigate life outside the shelter. Having a canine companion could help her find her feet, although introductions would need to be carefully managed. As a Lurcher, Bonnie will also need a secure garden with suitable fencing where she can safely explore and enjoy some outdoor time. Bonnie isn’t going to be the easiest adoption, and she may not be the dog who runs up to greet you or asks for cuddles straight away. But for the right person, watching her slowly discover that the world isn’t such a scary place could be one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. Bonnie needs a special home, with a very special person, who is willing to give her the time she has always deserved. Could you be the person who helps Bonnie finally feel safe?
