  • Horton – Photo 1 of 1

    Horton

    from£90adoption fee

Domestic Short Hair · 4 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Horton was admitted into our care after he was sadly abandoned outside our centre overnight. Horton is a very handsome boy who is looking to find the right home for him, where he can have his own time and space to settle. Initially, Horton was quite nervous in a cattery so we decided to place him into foster. Horton has come on leaps and bounds since being in foster, he will now come and greet you as you enter his room and really enjoys getting fuss and attention, although mainly around his head and along his back. Horton does not enjoy being picked up or held so would prefer a quieter home with no young children. Horton has started to show a playful nature and really enjoys chasing a ball around, as well as chasing spiders! He has started having access to the full house and is loving exploring each room. He can still be nervous around sudden movements and noises but is getting better at not running as far away and then returning. He is an independent boy who likes to be able to make his own choices and will approach you if he wants to enjoy some attention. Horton would be best suited to owners who have experience with cats, that will be patient with him and will take the time to help him build his confidence and trust with people. Due to his independent nature, Horton would require outdoor access in his new home once settled. It is unknown how he would react with other pets in the home.

  • Jasper – Photo 1 of 1

    Jasper

    £100adoption fee

Domestic Semi Long Hair · 5 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Jasper is a gorgeous long-haired black cat with a coat as soft as velvet and eyes full of quiet wisdom. He’s calm, affectionate, and carries himself with quiet dignity- like a little panther who just wants a warm lap and a peaceful home. Like many cats, he has had a few health challenges along the way. He is currently receiving medication to help manage overgrooming, and he has shown signs consistent with hip dysplasia. Despite this, Jasper continues to enjoy life and is looking for a family willing to support him and give him the comfort and stability he deserves. Jasper would benefit from an understanding adopter who is happy to continue his veterinary care as advised and keep an eye on his mobility. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who simply wants a cosy bed, gentle fuss, and a place to feel secure. Jasper would be best being rehomed to a quieter home, with older children or adult only and have safe outdoor access. Black cats are often overlooked, but Jasper is proof that they are every bit as special. He has so much love left to give and deserves a family who can see beyond his medical needs and appreciate the wonderful cat he is.

    Mac & Cheese

    £100adoption fee

    Domestic S.H (short hair) · 1 year 2 months · Male · Medium

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Mac (more white, left) and Cheese (more ginger, right) are a bonded pair who are ready to find their forever home together. You may remember Mac and Cheese from being on our website before. The boys did get a new home, but due to no body’s fault, it didn’t work out. With them coming back, we have learnt more about them and this is helpful in getting them into a home that suits their needs better. We believe the boys have developed confinement-related issues as a result of spending their early kittenhood in a very restricted environment with limited space to explore and develop normally. As a result, they can become stressed and frustrated when they feel confined or when their environment doesn’t provide enough space, stimulation, and freedom. This stress can sometimes present as behavioural challenges, including restlessness, difficulty settling, overreacting to changes in routine, and displaying unwanted behaviours when they feel trapped or restricted. These aren’t “bad” cats; rather, they are cats whose early experiences have left them struggling to cope in certain environments. For this reason, we feel they would be best suited to a rural or semi-rural home with understanding adopters who can appreciate their background and give them the time, space, and patience they need to flourish. A quieter location with plenty of room to roam, and eventual access to safe outdoor space once fully settled, would help them express their natural behaviours and build confidence. Despite their challenges, these boys are incredibly deserving. They share a close bond and gain a great deal of comfort from one another, so they must be rehomed together. Watching them play, explore, and seek reassurance from each other is a reminder of just how much potential they have in the right home. They aren’t looking for owners who expect perfection from day one. They need people who understand that recovery from an unsettled start in life takes time. With patience, consistency, and the freedom to be cats, we believe these brothers can leave many of their stress-related behaviours behind and become wonderful companions. If you have a quieter home, plenty of understanding, and room in your heart for two cats who simply need a chance to thrive, these boys could be the perfect addition to your family.

    Beans, Chickpea & Lentil

    £45adoption fee

    Lionhead Cross · 2 years · Female · Small

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Such a perfect trio! Meet Bean, Chickpea and Lentil. Bean is the grey lady, and she is also the mother of Chickpea and Lentil! Chickpea is the brown lady with the albino eyes, and lastly Lentil is the pitch black lady. Like all rabbits, each of their personalities are very unique. I would say that Lentil is the most confident from the three of them. She will be the first one to come over to you and investigate everything on you! Lentil is probably the shiest out of them. She tends to hang back and observe from a distance! But in a home environment she will be a lot more confident and outgoing. Bean would be the bossiest out of the three of them. When she doesn’t like something that’s going on: she’ll thump her back feet in protest! These three ladies are closely bonded, and due to that they’ll all need to go home as a trio together. They’re such fantastic little rabbits who can live either indoors or outdoors with no problems. If you’d be interested in these ladies, then please put in an online application down below<3.

That’s one big lady! Meet Pink and Panther! Pink is the gigantic brown and white lady, and Panther is the smaller black and white piggy! Pink is such a chill girl and very easy to handle, which is good since she is massive! Panther on the other hand is a bit more of a drama queen, but that’s to be expected out of a pair of piggies! Pink can grow a bit of a mullet around her rump. You’ll need to keep up with trimming her rump mullet and making sure she doesn’t get matted! These ladies will need to go home together, either as a duo or part of a larger herd. If you’d be interested in these ladies, please put in an online application down below!<3.

The best way to tell them a part is by looking at their eyes; Salmon has two eyepatches of ginger, while Pip only has one. Both these girls are FULL of squeaks! The moment they even hear a hint of vegetables, they shout like a little choir. These two girls have long hair, which is currently clipped. Once it fully grows back, you’ll need to make sure you’re keeping on top of it and not allowing any mats to develop. Collie cross · 8 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET RUFUS — THE ALL-ROUND GOOD BOY Sometimes a dog comes along who just makes everything easy. Rufus is one of those dogs. At around 8 years old and 22kg, Rufus is a handsome Collie cross — a lovely medium-sized boy with an equally lovely nature. He is well-mannered, affectionate and beautifully behaved. He walks like a dream on the lead, keeps his bedroom spotless, gets on brilliantly with everyone he meets and is just a pleasure to have around. Rufus is currently on heart medication, although our vet will be reassessing him as we’re hopeful he may not actually need to remain on it. He’s at that wonderful age where the crazy youngster days are behind him. He’s calm and settled when it’s time to relax, but mention a walk, an adventure or a bit of craic and he’s absolutely up for it. Rufus isn’t asking for much — just someone to notice what a genuinely lovely boy he is and give him the chance to be part of a family again. If you’re looking for a dog who can enjoy an adventure with you and then happily settle down beside you afterwards… Rufus is your man.

Curtains and Fringe are two bonded brothers who are hoping to find themselves a new home together! These two handsome boys were admitted into our care after being found alone as younger kittens who had cat flu. After treatment from our vet team and time spent with our animal care team, these brothers are now ready to start the search for their forever home. Although they were a little shy when they first arrived, their confidence has grown more and more each day as well as their brotherly bond that is a joy to watch! These gorgeous boys have really come out of their shells and are now full of character. They love darting around their pen, climbing to the highest spots they can find, and keeping themselves busy with toys. After burning off all that kitten energy, they're more than happy to settle down in a cosy bed for a well-earned snooze. Fringe is the more confident of the two and is often the first to investigate something new or the first to greet people, while sweet boy Curtains is a bit more reserved and takes comfort from having his brother by his side. Once fully settled and confident in their new home, Curtains and Fringe would enjoy having safe outdoor access, giving them the opportunity to explore the outside world when they are ready. These boys would love homes where they can enjoy plenty of playtime, enrichment, and affection. They could live with sensible, understanding children who are used to cats and are able to give them plenty of space and understand that building confidence in their new home can take some time. It is unknown how they would react around other pets in the home but may be able to share their home with another friendly cat or cat-friendly dog following gradual introductions.

    Grace

    Dog · 3 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET GRACE Sometimes a name just fits a dog perfectly — and Grace couldn’t be more aptly named. Grace is a beautiful three-year-old Eastern European Shepherd, one of seven Shepherds who recently arrived into our care. She’s a big girl, but underneath that impressive exterior is quite simply the gentlest soul. Grace is loving and affectionate, but she is also incredibly shy and timid. She might not be the dog who pushes her way to the front to say hello. She may hang back and quietly watch while everyone else gets the attention — but give her a little time and you’ll discover just how special she really is. She’s such a lovely, lovely girl. Because of Grace’s background and the life she has known, finding the right environment for her is really important. Grace has always lived as part of a pack, and because of this, another suitable dog in her new home is essential. She could never be an only dog. She needs that canine companionship for reassurance, confidence and simply because being alongside other dogs is the life she understands. She also needs a home with plenty of secure outdoor space where she can run, play and enjoy herself. A secure garden or outdoor area is absolutely vital for her. 3 years old Eastern European Shepherd Loving, affectionate and incredibly gentle Shy and timid initially Must live with another suitable dog Secure outdoor space is essential Children 12+ Large-breed experience preferred A patient, understanding family who will allow her to settle at her own pace Grace isn’t necessarily going to be the one who comes forward first when you meet her. But sometimes it’s worth looking past the dog at the front and noticing the quiet one waiting behind. Because that quiet girl might just turn out to be something incredibly special. And Grace really, really is. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI

    Ember

    Dog · 9 months · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET EMBER Sometimes the dogs who ask the least of you end up giving you the most. Ember is around nine months old, a beautiful black Lab crossbreed with the gentlest little soul. She was born with a slight difference in one of her back legs. She has been X-rayed and thoroughly checked, and thankfully it causes her no harm and no surgery is required. To Ember, it’s simply part of who she is. And what a lovely little dog she is. Ember is gentle, shy and incredibly mild-mannered. She isn’t the puppy who will necessarily run straight into your arms on the first meeting. She needs someone willing to give her time, patience and reassurance while she learns that she is safe, she is loved, and she doesn’t have to be afraid. We’ve already watched her blossom so much in our care, and now we know she’s ready for the next part of her journey — home. For Ember, we feel another friendly, confident dog in the home is really important. A canine companion who can show her the ropes, help build her confidence and teach her how wonderful being a normal, carefree puppy can be. Around 9 months old Lab crossbreed Gentle, shy and sweet-natured Another friendly dog in the home is important Children 14+ who understand when a nervous dog needs time and space A patient, understanding home willing to let her progress at her own pace Ember may not be your straightforward, ready-to-rock-and-roll dog. There may be little hurdles. There will be things she’ll need help understanding. And you’ll need to celebrate the tiny victories that other dog owners might never even notice. But we truly believe that the love this little girl will eventually give you will outweigh every bit of work it takes to help her find her feet. She doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for her. She just needs someone to believe in her. Could you be Ember’s safe place? Almost Home Animal Rescue NI

    Sugar

    from£90adoption fee

Domestic Short Hair · 8 months · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Sugar was admitted into our care as a young kitten who was found after being involved a suspected road traffic accident. After examination by our veterinary team, it was found that he had a fractured pelvis. After several months of cage rest and after getting lots of TLC, he is ready to find his forever home! Sugar is recovering well and nothing holds him back! He is an extremely handsome and sweet boy who adores people and loves getting lots of attention. He loves cuddling up to our staff and volunteers but also has a very playful, boisterous side, as he loves to chase his toys around the room! Due to his pelvic injury, Sugar would be best suited in a calm home, where he could be an indoor only cat initially to allow for close monitoring while he continues to build strength and stability in his pelvis. Once settled into his new home and showing improved strength and mobility, he can then gradually be given access to the outdoors. He would also love a home where his new owners are around for most of the day to help him settle and adjust into his new environment. He would also love to have lots of cosy spots where he can lie back and relax, watching the world go by! Sugar would be best suited to an adult-only home . It is unknown how he would react to other pets in the home.

    Mustang

    from£90adoption fee

Domestic Short Hair · 8 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Mustang was surrendered into our care back in January as her owner could no longer continue care for her. When she arrived at our centre she weighed 7.5kg and immediately began her weight loss journey. This was a slow process, but this beautiful kitty has made fantastic progress, now weighing nearly 5kg. Mustang's new family will need to continue managing her weight to help her reach a healthy target. Mustang has spent time in foster care, where she has adapted well to a home environment. She enjoys affection and will happily curl up on your lap, but prefers attention on her own terms and often forms a close bond with one person. She is an active, playful cat who loves teaser toys and is highly food motivated. She enjoys enrichment activities and already knows her name, "sit," and "reach." She currently uses a slow-feeder ball to encourage movement and make mealtimes more engaging. Mustang can become overstimulated, so play and enrichment should be offered in shorter sessions throughout the day. This may improve once she has access to the outdoors after settling into her new home. Mustang is looking for a home where she can be the only pet , as she does not get along with other cats or dogs. She would suit an adult-only home, although she could potentially live with cat-savvy teenagers aged 16 years and older who are sensible around cats.

    from£185adoption fee

    German Shepherd · 3 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet our handsome boy Dutch! Dutch is a lovely German Shepherd, estimated to be around 3 years old, who came into our care as an injured stray in February. After a thorough veterinary examination, Dutch was diagnosed with cruciate ligament damage in his right knee and has since underwent corrective surgery. Since then, Dutch has made great progress with his recovery. He has settled in well to kennel life and continues to build up his strength and fitness each day with the support of our animal care team. Dutch is an incredibly friendly and affectionate boy who absolutely loves people. He has become a firm favourite with our team, enjoying nothing more than saying hello to staff and volunteers and meeting people when he is out on his walks! Dutch is still gradually building up his exercise levels and thoroughly enjoys getting out for his walks. He loves to sniff and explore his surroundings and take in all the interesting sights and smells. He also enjoys enrichment activities, with frozen kongs and food-based puzzles being his favourite! Dutch would be best suited to a home with owners who have experience of German Shepherds or similar breeds, where his new family will understand his ongoing needs following surgery. This will include ongoing joint supplements and possible pain relief to help keep him comfortable. While he is recovering very well, it will be important that his exercise continues to be managed appropriately and that he is not overexerted. Dutch could live with sensible older teenagers who are confident around large dogs. He is not suitable to live with cats. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

Meet Whimsy and Whisp! These pretty kittens were admitted to our care at only 5 weeks of age suffering from a bad case of cat flu. After treatment and care from our vet and animal care teams, this duo are ready to find themselves their new home. Whimsy and Whisp are a beautiful pair who share a lovely bond and are looking for a home together. Both kittens are playful, they enjoy relaxing and exploring and are always happiest when they have each other for company. Whimsy is a bit more confident than his sister, he enjoys getting involved in daily life and likes gentle affection and although Whisp prefers to watch, she does join in when she feels comfortable. They both have a very sweet nature and are playful kittens who we know, once settled, will make great companions for their new family. They both can be a little reserved and shy at first, but once they feel safe and comfortable around you, they come out of their shells and love receiving attention and gentle head rubs! These pair have a curious nature, they have a love for playing and climbing and are often found snuggling up together, watching the comings and goings of our cattery unit in their cosy bed. As a result of cat flu, Whimsy does have some corneal scarring on both eyes, which may continue to improve over time. Despite this, it certainly doesn’t hold him back and he enjoys life to the fullest. They would prefer an indoor-only home where they can stay safe and comfortable. Due to their shyer natures, they would be best suited with a family who have experience with cats and would prefer to live in a quieter household with older children who have a sensible approach to cats.
