  • Poppy – Photo 1 of 1

    Poppy

    £250adoption fee

    French Bulldog · 2-3 years · Female

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Poppy is a fantastic little lady with people, she greets every person she meets with a butt wag. Initially Poppy was an unclaimed stray so we didn’t have any detail on her. Poppy did have some issues with toilet training in her last home but was making progress. Poppy will be best living as an only dog but is not at all reactive when walking past dogs in the street. Any adopter should be mindful that French Bulldogs can be among the most expensive of dog breeds to keep . Breed experience/knowledge will benefit your application.

  • Tia – Photo 1 of 1

    Tia

    €200adoption fee

    Dog · 6 months · Female

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Tia is around 8 months of age and has not had a stable upbringing to date. In spite of this she is eager to please, affectionate, gentle and ripe for training. We really hope to turn around her fortunes. Tia was bought at a fair where she shared a pen with several other 6 month old pups. We know this girl has had to fend for herself in her early months – she eats and swallows stones, she eats soil, and she is protective of resources around other dogs. We are looking for a home who can slowly undo these experiences and help her develop confidence across these next crucial months. Tia is super with all dogs she meets, but she would prefer to be the only dog in the home. Future owners should be committed to giving her regular opportunity to meet, walk with and play with other dogs. A daily walk with a dog buddy or visits to dog parks, must be part of her future. Tia walks well on lead and she is very in-tune with her person, always searching them out when she is offlead. Tia will be fine to live with children 8+. We don’t know about cats but she will probably settle fine with them. Leaving hours would not be helpful for Tia, we would like someone to be around and interacting with Tia throughout the day. If you are interested in this wonderful girl, please read the Adoption Process on the website and apply using the Adoption Questionnaire.

    Pearl

    €275adoption fee

    French Bulldog · 6 years · Female · Small

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

Pearl is a sweet, loving Frenchie with a big heart and an even bigger love for her people. Shes the kind of girl who wants to be by your side wherever you go, happily following you around like your very own little shadow. Pearl can take a little time to get to know you and learn that she can trust you, but once she lets you into her heart, she forms an incredibly special bond - one that will last a lifetime. For Pearl, her people mean everything. Shes looking for a home with adults or older teens who understand that good things take time and are willing to give her the patience, love and attention she needs to settle in. Once she feels safe and secure, youll have a devoted little companion who simply wants to be part of your world. She is small in size but can be quite strong on lead so she will need some help in learning some better manners on lead. She has gradually been getting used to car travel in her wonderful foster home, and this will need to be continued in her forever home. Pearl enjoys meeting doggy friends when shes out and about, but at home she would love to be your one and only pet so she can soak up all the love and attention for herself. If youre looking for a loyal little shadow who will adore you with all her heart, Pearl may just be the special girl youve been waiting for.

    Arlo

    €275adoption fee

    Lurcher Cross · 10 months · Male · Small

    Ireland

Arlo is a friendly, playful, and bouncy young lad who thoroughly enjoys fuss and attention. He has tonnes of energy as well as brains to burn. He would benefit from an adopter with a keen interest in training to guide him through his adolescence and to give him the enrichment and mental stimulation that he needs. Arlo needs an enclosed garden to play around in safely. He can live with teens that are comfortable with big bouncy dogs. Although Arlo enjoys meeting doggy friends when out and about, he may do best as the only dog in the home for now due to his exuberant personality which some dogs arent fond of.

  • Little Gem – Photo 1 of 7

    Little Gem

    £287.50adoption fee

    Whippet Cross · 2 years · Female · Medium

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Type of home required: This lovely lady is Little Gem. After giving birth to three beautiful puppies and watching them grow, now it is Gem's turn to find her forever home! Unfortunately, we do not have much history of Gem's life before coming to Dogs Trust so we feel she will be best suited to an adult only home. Gem can be a tad shy when meeting new people, but once she gets to know you she will be your closest companion for the rest of her life! She is an affectionate girl who loves a fuss and cuddle, so would prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she can keep all the attention to herself. Gem can be left for short periods, which could be built gradually once she's fully settled into her new home. She would love her own secure garden space where she can run and play to her heart's content! This would also give her a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some of her favourite enrichment activities to keep her clever brain busy! More information: This sweetheart really lives up to her name and has an absolute gem of a personality! She has stolen so many hearts here at the centre and brings a smile to everyone's faces! Gem can be a bit unsure around dogs and has been working really hard on building her confidence and wearing her muzzle during her time at Dogs Trust. She will require ongoing encouragement from her family, but you will be supported every step of the way by the teams here at the centre. Gem is also a big foodie and super intelligent which will be a great help for any training you undertake together! Gem travels well in the car and loves nothing more than a sniffy walk, so we know she will thrive in an active home with quieter walking areas. If you feel Little Gem could be the perfect addition to your home, please submit an application and don't forget to "favourite" her!

    Roxy

    €245adoption fee

    Terrier · 6 years · Female · Small

    Co. Wicklow, Ireland

Affectionate and full of character, Roxy is looking for an adult-only home where she can be the centre of attention. Roxy is a 6-year-old Terrier Cross with a wiry coat, a wagging tail and plenty of love to give. She enjoys tummy rubs, running around in the grass and spending time with her favorite people. She also loves her walks and would happily enjoy outdoor adventures with her new family. Roxy can be nervous around sudden movements, loud noises and unfamiliar people, so she needs a calm home with someone who understands her boundaries. She also has a past issue with food-related guarding, so careful management around food is essential. An experienced owner who understands her needs and can provide a safe, structured environment would be best. Roxy would suit an adult-only home with no other pets, where she can enjoy peaceful surroundings, daily walks and all the love and attention she deserves. With the right understanding and care, we hope she can find a comfortable home to call her own.

    Holly

    €245adoption fee

    Husky · 10 years · Female · Medium

    Co. Wicklow, Ireland

Happy, friendly and full of character, Holly is looking for a loving home to enjoy her golden years. Holly is a 10-year-old Husky who was rescued by our NSPCA inspectors. When she was found, she was extremely emaciated and had been tied to a chain with no shelter. Despite her difficult past, Holly is a lovely girl who still has plenty of life and love to give. She loves being outdoors, going for walks and having the freedom to explore after spending so long on a chain. She is super good on the lead and enjoys a good sniff around the garden. Although she still has plenty of energy, she is calmer than you might expect from a Husky and is always happy to enjoy some time relaxing afterwards. Holly would prefer to be the only dog in her new home, where she can enjoy plenty of company, regular walks and a comfortable spot to snooze. After everything she has been through, she deserves to feel safe, loved and part of a family.

  • Luna – Photo 1 of 4

    Luna

    €245adoption fee

Black Mouth Cur · 15 months · Female · Medium

    Co. Longford, Ireland

Luna is a beautiful 15-month-old girl with the gentlest soul and so much love to give. Originally rescued from Spain and brought to Ireland, Luna is now looking for a new home through no fault of her own. She has so much affection to share and is happiest when she’s close to her people, soaking up every cuddle, belly rub, and bit of attention she can get. One of the loveliest things about Luna is watching her discover the joys of being a dog. She’s only recently started learning how to play, and it’s been wonderful to see her confidence blossom. She absolutely loves chasing a ball—although she’s still working on the “bring it back and let go” part! For now, she’s much happier proudly carrying her prize around for everyone to admire. Luna is incredibly friendly and sociable. She loves meeting new people, is great with people of all ages, and is always excited to say hello to every dog she passes. Her warm, loving nature makes her a joy to be around. As Luna is not currently based at our shelter, any meet and greets will need to be arranged in advance. If you’re looking for a young dog with a heart of gold, a playful spirit, and endless affection to give, Luna could be the perfect addition to your family.

  • Minnie – Photo 1 of 1

    Minnie

    €200adoption fee

    Dog · 8 years · Female

    Co. Cork, Ireland

Minnie is an 8 year old JRT. She is the dinkiest, sweetest little girl, but she is timid and will need a calm, loving and encouraging home. Minnie has never learned how to walk on the lead. Future owners will need to put time into this aspect of her training. A secure, ample garden for Minnie would be an asset. A quieter home would also help her as she lacks confidence around people – tending to hit the floor when approached. She ADORES cuddles and affection though so will be a lovely lap-pet! Minnie lived with another dog in the past, butwe would like her to have a calmer, more people-focused future. A home with another gentle, welcoming dog will certainly be considered, or a home where she would be the only dog is also ideal. Minnie is fine with cats. If you would like to offer this sweet poppet a home, please read the Adoption Process on our website and apply for Minnie using the Adoption Questionnaire.

  • Sadie – Photo 1 of 1

    Sadie

    American Bulldog · 10 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Sadie Sadie is a beautiful 10-year-old American Bulldog and, honestly, she is an absolute gem. She is a well-behaved, settled girl who has that lovely balance of being calm and content while still enjoying life. She loves her walks, enjoys getting out and about, and is always happy to be part of whatever is happening. Sadie gets on well with most other dogs and could happily share her home with a canine companion. But she would also be perfectly content as an only dog, where she can steal the limelight and be the centre of her family’s world! Cats are a definite no for Sadie, so she cannot be rehomed with cats. She has been fantastic with everyone she has met, but given that she is a slightly older girl, we feel children 8+ would be the best fit for her. Sadie is simply a lovely, happy, settled girl who deserves a wonderful home for her next chapter. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is happy to enjoy a good walk, a bit of adventure and then settle down with her family, Sadie could be your girl.

  • Albie – Photo 1 of 1

    Albie

    Poodle cross · 7 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Albie Albie is a little Poodle cross, around 6–7 years old, and this wee man has really stolen our hearts. Albie is a quiet little soul. Once he gets to know you, he is loving and affectionate, but he needs time, patience and someone who understands that trust doesn’t happen overnight. Albie was used on a commercial breeding farm, and sadly he never had the life he should have had. He missed out on so much of what every dog deserves. But over the last couple of weeks, we have watched this little man begin to flourish. His coat has been shaved, he has been neutered, had a much-needed dental, and he also arrived with entropion, a painful condition affecting the eyelids. We have had this surgically treated, and he is now feeling so much more comfortable. And slowly, we are seeing Albie emerge. He is looking for a quiet, settled home with someone who will give him the time and space he needs to find his feet. A really secure garden is essential. Another friendly dog in the home is vital for Albie. Children must be 14+ and able to understand that Albie needs patience and space. He may take a little while to come around, but once he does, we know there is so much love waiting to come out of this little dog. Albie has missed out on so much in his life. Now we want to find him the home where he can finally learn just how wonderful life can be. If you think you could offer Albie the quiet, patient and loving home he deserves, please get in touch with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI.

  • Fable – Photo 1 of 1

    Fable

    £170adoption fee

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · 1 year · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Some dogs need a little more time to find their confidence. Some need someone to believe in them. And some, like our beautiful Fable, simply need the chance to discover what kindness really feels like. Fable is a Staffie cross who has had a difficult start in life and, because of the circumstances surrounding her case, she isn’t able to be shown publicly at this time. But behind the scenes, Fable has been quietly learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. She has been living with a wonderful foster family who have been helping her experience all the things she may not have had before -gentle voices, patience, comfort, routine and, most importantly, kindness. Fable is a very timid and shy girl. She doesn’t rush up to people or immediately show you her personality. She needs time to trust, and she’ll need someone who understands that her journey will be about small steps rather than big leaps. She can be unsure around men, although she is currently living alongside a male and is gradually learning that they can be safe too. Underneath that nervousness is a girl who wants a home of her own. She wants people to call her family. She wants a quiet, safe place where she can continue learning that she is loved and that she doesn’t have to be afraid. Fable will need: • A patient, understanding family • A calm home where she can settle at her own pace • Someone willing to continue building her confidence • Plenty of love, routine and reassurance • An understanding that trust takes time Fable will need someone who is willing to take things slowly and let her confidence grow, but for the right person, watching her blossom will be incredibly special.
