  • Bessie – Photo 1 of 7

    Bessie

    €250adoption fee

    Collie Cross · 10 years · Female · Medium

    Co. Kildare, Ireland

Bessie is a friendly 10 year old Collie Cross described by her foster mum as ‘the gentlest and kindest dog’. She loves company and will happily sit by her favourite human all day long. Bessie is an independent girl who is happy to do her own thing, is clean and house-trained, barks to be let out and is clever and walks well on the lead. A secure, enclosed garden is essential to prevent her exploring. Bessie is best suited to an adult home – perhaps a retired person/couple or somebody who works from home. Although happy to meet other dogs, Bessie would be happiest to be the only dog in the home.

    Finn

    £287.50adoption fee

Retriever (Labrador) Cross x Terrier (Staffordshire Bull) · 8 months · Male · Large

    Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland

Type of home required: Finn is an 8 month old, big and strong boy with a wonderfully friendly nature. He’s a lovely young dog who enjoys being around people, playing with his toys and meeting other dogs. Finn is a bright boy who already knows sit and paw, is housetrained, and travels well in the car. He’s also very playful and would love a home where he can continue learning, exploring and enjoying all the fun that comes with being a young dog. Finn is good with other dogs and could potentially live with another suitable dog, pending successful meets here at the centre. More information: Finn is very strong on the lead, so his new family will need to be prepared to continue working on his lead manners with patience and positive training. He also finds being left alone difficult, so time home alone will need to be built up gradually. Because of Finn’s size and strength, we’re looking for a home with older, dog-savvy children who are comfortable around large, boisterous young dogs or an adult only home. Finn has lots of potential and is looking for a family who he can go on lots of adventures with. In return, he’ll bring plenty of fun, affection, playfulness and personality to his new home. If Finn sounds like the boy for you, submit an application and add him as a 'Favourite'!

    Popeye

    €245adoption donation

    Collie · 9 years 4 months · Male · Medium

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Popeye is a exceptionally sweet senior boy, that is looking for a retirement home. He is a big boy with a heart of gold, and he may even suit as a second dog if we can make a match. Popeye is a very affectionate, emotional boy, and he seems at his happiest when outside, so he will need time to adjust to any new home. He is very afraid of loud noises, some traffic, etc, so we do feel that a rural home may suit him best. Popeye will need company during the day, and will bond quickly with any new owner.

    Juni

    €245adoption donation

    Collie · 4 years 1 month · Female · Medium

    Co. Galway, Ireland

Juni is a sweet older girl that simply needs a warm place to call home. She has been through tough times, and we are slowly building up her strength again, but she is a gentle, kind girl that enjoys short walks. Juni seems very afraid of other dogs, so we feel a home on her own would be best, at least while she gains her strength back. We are looking for a long-term foster home, so that we can provide support if & when needed.

    Atlas

    €200adoption fee

    Staffy/Pitbull · 3 years · Male

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

✨ Introducing Mr Smiley himself .. Atlas 💙 🐾 He is a 3 year old, neutered staffy x, who was surrendered into our care through no fault of his own 🫶🏽 Atlas is the smiliest boy with the waggiest tail ... he doesn’t understand why his life has been turned upside down, but we’re doing our best to make him feel right at home 👌🏽 He’s a friendly chap who is great with people , he just loves being told what a good boy he is 😇 Atlas loves to play & adores his walks ... sniffing the grass & seeing the world go by ! We’ve been told he’s also rather fond of little drives in the car too ☺️ He can be a little strong to walk , but soon settles down , which you would expect for his kind of size. He’s got a gentle demeanour to him, has basic manners & doesn’t snap treats from your hand... however he can be a little excitable & jumpy at times. His previous owners suggest owing to this, he is best re-homed as an only dog & with children > the age of 12. We have no information of his exposure to cats. Atlas really is a beautiful boy who had done no wrong & he has been a joy to have in our care. Like the rest of our dogs, he deserves a fresh start .. and a loving, playful forever home who will fall in love with him & treat him like the king he is 👑 💙 🐾

  • Pablo – Photo 1 of 6

    Pablo

    €250adoption fee

    Podenco · 3 years · Male · Small

    Co. Kildare, Ireland

Pablo is a 3 year old, male Podengo cross. He is a little smaller than whippet size and quite easy to handle. Pablo is very friendly if a little shy, good with any children he has met, currently shares his home with 2 small female dogs without any issue but can feel a bit intimidated by larger dogs. He guards his food which is a throwback to his early living conditions when food was scarce. He needs an active home where he’ll be taken on daily walks and needs access to an average-sized, secure garden. An apartment will not be suitable. He seems to be afraid of cats as he will initially give chase but then run away if approached by the cat. Pablo loves to settle down on the couch in the evening in front of a fire and snuggled into his favourite humans. He is very much loved in his current home which was only ever intended to be temporary until the right home came along. He will make a gorgeous pet but will not initially be happy if he is continuously meeting dogs on his walks so a little training will be needed or else a quieter home location.

    Grace

    Dog · 3 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET GRACE Sometimes a name just fits a dog perfectly — and Grace couldn’t be more aptly named. Grace is a beautiful three-year-old Eastern European Shepherd, one of seven Shepherds who recently arrived into our care. She’s a big girl, but underneath that impressive exterior is quite simply the gentlest soul. Grace is loving and affectionate, but she is also incredibly shy and timid. She might not be the dog who pushes her way to the front to say hello. She may hang back and quietly watch while everyone else gets the attention — but give her a little time and you’ll discover just how special she really is. She’s such a lovely, lovely girl. Because of Grace’s background and the life she has known, finding the right environment for her is really important. Grace has always lived as part of a pack, and because of this, another suitable dog in her new home is essential. She could never be an only dog. She needs that canine companionship for reassurance, confidence and simply because being alongside other dogs is the life she understands. She also needs a home with plenty of secure outdoor space where she can run, play and enjoy herself. A secure garden or outdoor area is absolutely vital for her. 3 years old Eastern European Shepherd Loving, affectionate and incredibly gentle Shy and timid initially Must live with another suitable dog Secure outdoor space is essential Children 12+ Large-breed experience preferred A patient, understanding family who will allow her to settle at her own pace Grace isn’t necessarily going to be the one who comes forward first when you meet her. But sometimes it’s worth looking past the dog at the front and noticing the quiet one waiting behind. Because that quiet girl might just turn out to be something incredibly special. And Grace really, really is. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI

  • Ember – Photo 1 of 1

    Ember

    Dog · 9 months · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

MEET EMBER Sometimes the dogs who ask the least of you end up giving you the most. Ember is around nine months old, a beautiful black Lab crossbreed with the gentlest little soul. She was born with a slight difference in one of her back legs. She has been X-rayed and thoroughly checked, and thankfully it causes her no harm and no surgery is required. To Ember, it’s simply part of who she is. And what a lovely little dog she is. Ember is gentle, shy and incredibly mild-mannered. She isn’t the puppy who will necessarily run straight into your arms on the first meeting. She needs someone willing to give her time, patience and reassurance while she learns that she is safe, she is loved, and she doesn’t have to be afraid. We’ve already watched her blossom so much in our care, and now we know she’s ready for the next part of her journey — home. For Ember, we feel another friendly, confident dog in the home is really important. A canine companion who can show her the ropes, help build her confidence and teach her how wonderful being a normal, carefree puppy can be. Around 9 months old Lab crossbreed Gentle, shy and sweet-natured Another friendly dog in the home is important Children 14+ who understand when a nervous dog needs time and space A patient, understanding home willing to let her progress at her own pace Ember may not be your straightforward, ready-to-rock-and-roll dog. There may be little hurdles. There will be things she’ll need help understanding. And you’ll need to celebrate the tiny victories that other dog owners might never even notice. But we truly believe that the love this little girl will eventually give you will outweigh every bit of work it takes to help her find her feet. She doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for her. She just needs someone to believe in her. Could you be Ember’s safe place? Almost Home Animal Rescue NI

    Dutch

    from£185adoption fee

    German Shepherd · 3 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet our handsome boy Dutch! Dutch is a lovely German Shepherd, estimated to be around 3 years old, who came into our care as an injured stray in February. After a thorough veterinary examination, Dutch was diagnosed with cruciate ligament damage in his right knee and has since underwent corrective surgery. Since then, Dutch has made great progress with his recovery. He has settled in well to kennel life and continues to build up his strength and fitness each day with the support of our animal care team. Dutch is an incredibly friendly and affectionate boy who absolutely loves people. He has become a firm favourite with our team, enjoying nothing more than saying hello to staff and volunteers and meeting people when he is out on his walks! Dutch is still gradually building up his exercise levels and thoroughly enjoys getting out for his walks. He loves to sniff and explore his surroundings and take in all the interesting sights and smells. He also enjoys enrichment activities, with frozen kongs and food-based puzzles being his favourite! Dutch would be best suited to a home with owners who have experience of German Shepherds or similar breeds, where his new family will understand his ongoing needs following surgery. This will include ongoing joint supplements and possible pain relief to help keep him comfortable. While he is recovering very well, it will be important that his exercise continues to be managed appropriately and that he is not overexerted. Dutch could live with sensible older teenagers who are confident around large dogs. He is not suitable to live with cats. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home.
