He is a 9-year-old male Akita, full of personality with his own charming quirks. A gentle soul who simply needs a bit of time to feel comfortable. Confident and independent—happy in his own company but also loves to play. A dream on the lead—he walks gracefully despite his size. He loves relaxing on the trampoline, his favourite spot to watch the world go by. Bear is a truly unique companion, just waiting for someone to give him a chance. He would thrive in a home where he is the only dog. He is best suited to a family with older teens or adults who understand and appreciate the independent nature of the Akita breed. Ideally, his new owners should have experience with Akitas. He needs to live indoors as part of the family, and a fully enclosed garden with at least 5ft fencing is essential!

How to adopt from Husky Rescue Ireland
Apply online via the adoption form; dogs are matched to suitable homes (many need experienced northern-breed or Akita owners and indoor living). A home check follows, then a meet-and-greet with the dog and a pre-adoption talk; you finalise the adoption and pay the adoption fee, then bring your new dog home.
Adoption fees
Adoption fee: €250. It covers a full vet check, vaccinations, microchip, neuter / spay, rescue back-up for the remainder of your dog's life, and support and advice.
