Contact the rescueAbout Alden
Dont let Aldens age fool you - at 10 years old, this lovely Setter mix still has plenty of get-up-and-go! Hes a big, lovable fella with lots of energy and a real zest for life. Alden loves heading out for walks and adventures, especially when he can put his fantastic nose to work. Exploring, sniffing and taking in all the interesting smells is his idea of a great day. Once hes had his fill of adventure, though, Alden is more than happy to head home, curl up somewhere cosy and enjoy some well-earned rest. Being a big boy, Alden can be a little clumsy as he plods around, so he would be best suited to a home with older children who are less likely to be knocked over by an enthusiastic wag or a passing Alden! As an older gentleman, he also needs everyone around him to be mindful that he may be more comfortable with gentle pets and handling that wont cause him any discomfort. Aldens downtime is important too. He needs a peaceful place where he can sleep and relax without being disturbed. After all, even an adventurous boy needs his beauty sleep! Alden may also be able to share his home with another calm and gentle dog. He enjoys canine company, but hes not looking for a lively playmate or lots of rough-and-tumble. A chilled-out companion who is happy to spend time alongside him could be just what he needs. If youre looking for a fun-loving, adventure-ready older gentleman who also appreciates the simple pleasure of a cosy bed and a peaceful home, Alden could be your perfect match.

How to adopt from Dogs Trust (ROI)
Apply to adopt online for the dog you're interested in; Dogs Trust contacts you to arrange meeting the dog. Dublin dogs are at the Finglas rehoming centre; dogs elsewhere are in foster care and can't be visited at a centre.
Adoption fees
Our adoption fee is €275 for adult dogs and this fee helps us to cover the costs of caring for over 1,500 dogs every year. Our fee for adopting a puppy under 6 months is €325. This includes the €275 rehoming fee and a reduced €50 online Dog School fee. Our Dog School classes help puppies learn key life skills and teach owners the basic training skills they need to create a strong bond with their new dog. Every dog adopted from Dogs Trust is microchipped, vaccinated and vet checked. If your new dog is not already neutered at the time of adoption, you will go home with a voucher of €150 towards the cost of neutering a male or €200 towards the cost of spaying a female dog at a local veterinary practice. You will also receive a starter bag of food, a collar and lead. Once they're at home, you'll be able to access advice from the centre team if you need to.
