    Pickles & Gerkin

    €35adoption fee

    Guinea Pigs · 1-2 years · Female · Small

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

two sweet ladies who love to lunch! Meet Pickles & Gerkin – they are 1-2 year old sisters who came into the NSPCA after being found living in completely unsuitabke conditions. Pickles had a ton of missing fur on her back and open wounds, and was extremely withdrawn. Her breathing was also quite laboured. We weren’t sure if she would make it. After a few days here and secretly eating at night, Pickles slowly started to come out of her shell and we were finally able to give her the medication she so badly needed. She got a medicated bath, got treated for parasites and went on anti-biotics to help her lungs recover from her infection. She really turned a corner during this time and became a different pig – all of a sudden she as ‘wheeking’ when she heard the treats coming, munching down on hay and coming to the front of the enclosure when she heard her salad coming, and her pal Gerkin was with her the whole way! These girls have really been through it and deserve the best piggy home after all they’ve been through – could you be the one for them? Thank you for choosing to adopt guinea pigs from the NSPCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend guinea pigs be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 140 x 60cm for with an adjoining run to exercise and explore. Guinea pigs require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home. We have seen too many being abandoned so please make sure that you are in a position to look after them and provide them with everything they need.

    Carol

    €35adoption fee

    Guinea pig · 1 year · Female · Small

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

a shy girl who needs a piggie-sister Say hi to Carol – she is a 1 year old guinea pig who was brought into the shelter after being found abandoned in a house. Poor Carol was absolutely terrified of everyone. She was in good health but living in very dirty conditions with no hay or proper food. Thankfully, after a thorough checkup with our vet team and treated for some mites, she was given a clean bill of health and is ready to find her forever home. Carol needs to go to a home with other female guinea pigs or neutered male guinea pigs. We think she is craving other guinea pig company and we want to help her with that as soon as possible. We think she’ll be a much happier pig once she has a sister or two! If you can offer this lovely sweet girl a home please apply for her 🙂 Thank you for choosing to adopt a guinea pig from the NSPCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend guinea pigs be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 120 x 60cm with plenty of indoor free roam time. Guinea pigs are highly social animals and CANNOT live alone. Please only apply to adopt Carol if you have other female guinea pigs or neutered males that you can bond Carol with. Guinea pigs require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home. Gambon

    €35adoption fee

    Guinea pig · 1.5 years · Male · Small

    Co. Dublin, Ireland

a piggie with luscious locks! Meet Gambon – he is a male guinea who came into the shelter from another rescue. We estimate he is around 1.5 years old. Gambon is a stunning guinea pig with such a lovely shiny coat – and he knows it! He certainly knows how to work a camera – just look at that over-the-shoulder snap! Gambon is quite a dominant guinea pig so would do well in a home with younger males or a home where he could be neutered and live with females. He’d be best suited with someone who has had guinea pigs before and has some experience bonding them. No doubt he’ll be a head-turner wherever he goes 🙂 Guinea pigs are highly social animals and need to live with other guinea pigs. Please only apply for Gambon if you have other male guinea pigs or are open to neutering Gambon so he can live with females. Thank you for choosing to adopt a small animal from the NSPCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend guinea pigs be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 140 x 60cm for two guinea pigs with plenty of opportunities to roam in a larger space with tunnels, hides and things to forage in and search for food. Guinea pigs require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. They are also very shy animals. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home.
