Private homing – Milo is a 5 year old German Shepherd. Milo is looking for an adult only home where he gets the exercise he needs. He is neutered and housetrained and is a very healthy boy. He would be much happier as the only dog in the home. He is a clever and loyal boy and will do better in a quieter environment, not a city area. Milo loves the quiet country, and doesnt like traffic. He adores female humans and his idea home would be with an experienced female German Shep owner who lives in the countryside. He is a very intelligent boy.
Milo is a 4year old male German Shepard. Milo would love a home in the countryside with a secure garden (this is a must as he chases cars inside the boundary fence) where he has a lot of space to run around. Milo needs a child free home, despite growing up with kids he cannot cope with the noise of babies and is overwhelmed by the noise of a busy 3child household. Milo currently lives with a collie x lab companion but we feel a household where he is the only dog would be best for him. He has a tendency to only like dogs he met prior to turning 2years old. Milo lives for playing ball and frisbee and never tires of playing, it is his greatest love. Milo enjoys walks but is very strong on the lead, sniff walks are his favourite. Milo enjoys wading in water and retrieving sticks from the shallows. He loves a good dig in the sand too. Milo is calm indoors and enjoys having his own space to pan out indoors. He is crate trained. To apply for Mile, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals

Everyone Meet Delores, Delores is a 4 year old Labrador. She is a gentle and loving girl in need of a patient and understanding family. This sweet girl came from a rough start in life and is now learning to trust humans and how fun it can be to be a free dog. Because of her background, Delores has some specific needs: • Another established dog in the home to help her feel secure and gain confidence. • A calm, patient forever friend who can take things slow and allow her to blossom at her own pace. • A quiet, loving environment where she can thrive. • A home with children 12+ Though she may be shy at first, Delores is incredibly sweet and responds well to kindness and consistency. Whilst at Almost Home Delores has begun to trust people and will enjoy a chin scratch. She enjoys lying stretched out in her own bed and happily plays with her Almost Home neighbours. She will require consistency with her lead training in her new home. With the right family, Delores will make an affectionate and loyal companion for any family willing to give her the time to shine. Do you think you could offer this special girl the home she has always deserved? Please apply below.
We absolutely hate to see a German Shepherd in rescue. They love long and deep and seldom do well in rescue. Velda however had known nothing in the way of care and has done really well with us. She is about 2..5 years old would be a total joy in a home of her own.
Fiyero is a big-hearted lurcher with an even bigger personality to match. This gentle giant thrives on affection and will happily soak up every bit of love and attention you have to offer. With his inquisitive nature, he enjoys taking life at a relaxed pace. Gentle wanders, new sights, and peaceful exploring are right up his street. When he's not out discovering the world, Fiyero fully embraces his inner couch potato. True to classic lurcher style, he's happiest snuggled into a cosy bed or, even better, stretched out on the sofa beside you. He also loves playtime with his toys and never says no to a tasty treat, which makes training both effective and enjoyable for him. Fiyero has been working hard on managing his big feelings around other dogs and continues to make great progress, but he'll thrive as the only pet in the home. He could live with older children who are comfortable around large, occasionally bouncy dogs, and he'd really benefit from having someone home often, especially in the early days, to help him settle in. If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and wonderfully affectionate companion, Fiyero may be the perfect addition to your family.
2-year-old Jimmy is very shy and is still learning to trust people. He will need someone caring and patient to help him gain confidence, and doggie housemate too! He gets along great with other dogs and trusts women more than men.
Bert has had some negative experiences in his life which has led to some fears around meeting new people. Bert certainly appreciates a slow introduction but he is a little guy that’s worth taking the time to get to know. This means that potential adopters would need to be prepared to make lots of visits to the Sanctuary over quite a period of time in order to build up a positive relationship with Bert. When Bert learns to trust you get to see a lovely playful little guy full of energy. Bert also struggles with some resource guarding issues so we would prefer adopters to have knowledge of resource guarding and be prepared to manage this behaviour in a positive way. Bert will be part of our Aprils Wish program so you will have the added benefit of some sessions with a highly qualified behaviourist pre- and post- adoption in an effort to help you understand and manage Bert’s issues. Due to his issues, Bert will need an adult only home. Although Bert has been an only dog we will consider homes with other dogs pending successful meet and greets.
This lovely young girls only 1 year old previously from a home with other dogs. Maisie is good with cats, and children, has shown herself to be a superstar in her kennel keeping her space clean and tidy. In her few months with us she's been working hard, gaining confidence. She's a little unsure about strangers, but that's to be expected coming into a kennel environment. Maisie has been practicing meeting new people and working on the lead. She is very smart and learns very quickly. Maisie would be an excellent partner for someone who has an interest in obedience training, agility or something similar.
Hope Our Hope – her name means to have “confidence and trust” and that we have in this girl Life hasn’t been easy for Hope but it can only get better from here, from a life with very little interaction to rescue where she is surrounded by love daily. We can see this girl for the first time start to have Hope in herself and have watched with great pride as her amazing personality starts to shine through. Hope can still be nervous around new people but we’ve learnt another confident dog soon starts to bring out her confidence She is adored by all volunteers and we trust that Hope will make the perfect family member. If you have a friendly confident dog and space in your heart, Hope would be the perfect match for you
Mowgli’s story. Dumped as a very young pup Mowgli was literally reared with the foxes, he spent his early puppy life up in the carnmoney hills, lots of people were looking out for him and every fly he was trapped and came his way to join our family. He was and still is very nervous and shy, but with the love and dedication that the volunteers give him, we can see his beautiful wee soul and character shine. He still has his foxy ways. He’ll slinky up to you for belly rubs, which he can’t get enough of. But he’s also happy just in your company, until he wants your attention and he’ll do his foxy bounces. He’s getting more and more confident on the lead and loves to sniff all the blades of grass, but again, he just loves being out and about with you. Mowgli’s gentle soul and good looks has won the hearts of the volunteers and the female pooches . Could he win yours . Mowglie will blossom into the perfect furry friend with someone who will give him a chance and also a female furry companion. children. 16+ and a super secure outdoor space.
Lucy Lou is a mature little chihuahua who is looking for an experienced chihuahua owner to give her a loving home. She can be a little cranky at first and selective in who she will allow to lift her up and cuddle her – but once she gets to know you, she is a lovely affectionate little companion. She knows her own mind – like most chihuahuas! For example, if she wants to finish up a walk early, she will simply stop and walk no more. She would suit a household with one adult owner who has experience with chihuahuas. Please call 0862112850 if you would like to discuss rehoming Lucy Lou.
