    Jodie

    Dog · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Jodie – Please Give This Special Girl Her Happily Ever After Everyone meet Jodie. For many of you, Jodie will be a very familiar face from both our social media and our website. For a long time, we were looking for a home for Jodie alongside her beloved dad, Charlie. Sadly, Charlie passed away a few weeks ago. It has taken me quite some time to even be able to write this post and remove their profiles from the website. Charlie never got the chance to make it home, and that is something we will always be incredibly sad about. But we don’t want the same to happen to Jodie. Jodie has coped incredibly well since losing her dad. Of course, she has been sad and a little down, but the whole team have been surrounding her with as much love, comfort and attention as we possibly can. And now, more than ever, Jodie needs a family of her own. Jodie really doesn’t ask for much. She is a wonderfully loving, gentle girl who is happy with the simple things in life. She loves her big, squishy beds She sleeps with her beloved big blue octopus She enjoys pottering around the garden A couple of gentle 15-minute walks each day are plenty for her She eats well She’s wonderfully clean and keeps her bedroom spotless She loves people and is happy to see everyone Jodie shows very little interest in other dogs, but we feel she would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can have all the love and attention for herself. She also loves children. What we are looking for now is something very special — a family who can look beyond the grey hairs on Jodie’s face and see the wonderful dog underneath. Someone who understands that she has lost the companion she knew and loved, and who will give her the security, patience and unconditional love she deserves. Jodie doesn’t need a big adventure. She doesn’t need a busy lifestyle. She simply needs a sofa, a garden, a comfy bed, someone to love her and a family that is hers. She has spent far too long waiting. Charlie never got to go home. Please don’t let Jodie leave us without knowing what it feels like to have a family of her own. If you have room in your home — and, more importantly, room in your heart — for this incredibly special girl, please get in touch. Jodie deserves to be cherished for whatever years she has ahead of her.

  • Elodie – Photo 1 of 1

    Elodie

    Jack Russell · 2 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Little Elodie is around two years old and is a sweet, quiet-natured little girl who can be a little shy when you first meet her. Give her a little time and patience, however, and you’ll soon see her lovely, happy personality begin to shine through. Elodie would ideally love a home with another friendly dog to help build her confidence and show her the ropes. That said, we would consider a home where she is the only dog if her family are around most of the time and can give her all the love, reassurance and companionship she needs. She’s a good girl who could happily live with sensible children aged 12 and over. All Elodie is looking for is a kind and understanding family who will let her settle at her own pace and watch her blossom into the wonderful companion we know she can be.

    Litter

    Pips marvel puppies

    Dog

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Pip’s Marvel Puppies! Our beautiful litter of 11 Marvel puppies are now 6 weeks old and will be ready to begin their next adventure in just two weeks’ time. Their mum, Pip, is a stunning Staffy cross with the most wonderful temperament. She is incredibly soft, gentle and affectionate, and has been a fantastic mum to her babies. The puppies have clearly inherited her lovely nature and are confident, happy little characters. These puppies are being raised in a foster home where they have been well handled, well socialised and given the very best start in life. They are settled, inquisitive and enjoying everything that comes with being curious young puppies. As they grow, they will need homes committed to all aspects of puppy training, including house training, lead walking, socialisation and ongoing positive reinforcement. Puppies are a long-term commitment, and while they are adorable, they require plenty of time, patience and consistency. Although Pip is a Staffy cross, she is a larger girl, and we expect these puppies to mature into medium to large-sized dogs. We are looking for homes with previous Staffordshire Bull Terrier or Staffy-type breed experience, where adopters understand the breed’s needs and can provide the exercise, companionship, training and lifelong commitment they deserve. Due to their size and typical puppy behaviour, we are looking for homes with children aged 8 years and over. If you feel you could offer one of Pip’s gorgeous puppies a loving forever home, we’d love to hear from you. We carefully match each puppy to the home that best suits their individual personality and the adopter’s lifestyle, ensuring the best possible start to a lifetime together.

  • Sophie – Photo 1 of 3

    Sophie

    Shepherd X · 10 months · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Sophie (Shepherd X) Meet Sophie. Sophie is a 10-month-old young girl with a huge personality and a lot of love to give. She is affectionate, people-focused, very clever and loves being involved in family life. She enjoys cuddles, attention and meeting people, and she will usually assume every visitor has come especially to see her. Sophie is still young and can be very excitable when greeting people. She may jump up at first, but she responds to clear direction and settles once the initial excitement has passed. She has had training and will benefit from an experienced home that can continue with calm, consistent boundaries, lead work, recall practice and plenty of enrichment. She loves her walks and usually has around an hour of exercise each day. Sophie can pull on the lead and will need continued work in this area. Her recall can be good in the right setting, but she should stay on lead or on a long line unless in a fully secure area, as she cannot be trusted around rabbits, small animals or other high-interest distractions. Sophie can be good with other dogs, but she is very playful and excitable at first. She may be best as the only dog, or with a confident, tolerant dog of a similar size after careful introductions. She is not suitable to live with cats, rabbits, small furries or very small dogs. Sophie loves children, but because she jumps up and does not always realise her own size, she would be best suited to a home with older, dog-savvy children only. She is best fed separately from other animals and people, as she can be protective around food and treats. Sophie also appears to have food sensitivities, so her new home should continue with her current diet and avoid chicken and beef unless advised otherwise by a vet. Sophie settles best with company and will need a home where time alone is built up gradually. She can nap in a crate during the day if needed, but she is not used to being crated overnight. Sophie will make a loyal and affectionate companion for the right home. She needs an active, patient and experienced family who can give her structure, training, exercise and plenty of human attention. Age: 10 months Sex: Female Dogs: Possible with careful introductions; best with a confident dog of similar size, or as an only dog Cats: No Small animals: No Very small dogs: Not recommended Children: Older, dog-savvy children only Ideal home: Active, experienced, secure garden preferred, committed to ongoing training Key Needs: Lead work, recall management, enrichment, gradual alone-time training, separate feeding

  • Wee Max – Photo 1 of 1

    Wee Max

    £170adoption fee

    Collie (Border) · 8 years 10 months · Male · Medium

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Max is a handsome Collie who is ready to start searching for his forever home. When Max first arrived at the sanctuary he was originally a stray and therefore was very wary of us all. He initially would be scared to approach staff and volunteers but through a lot of time and patience he has build confidence and come on leaps and bounds. He was even scared of having a collar and lead put on. Through time the staff worked with Max daily to help him build some positive associations to having a lead on and were able to then start taking him out for walks. He eventually grew even more confident allowing us to harness on him and happy to be walked by volunteers too. Max is a nervous boy and would love to find a patient owner who can help him as he learns to trust humans again. Max loves having a sniff about on his walks and has been known to seek out the sunniest spot in our field to lay down and sunbathe. Max would love the chance to start over again with a new owner, he deserves a quiet happy home where he can relax and enjoy living life to the fullest. Max is seeking an experienced quiet home with someone who has patience and time to further encourage him to come out of his shell. He needs a home with no other pets and no children (living or visiting). Max would also need to live in a quiet or rural area as he is wary of fast moving vehicles. If you think you can provide Max with his forever home please submit an application form and a member of the dog team will be in touch!.

  • Pablo – Photo 1 of 1

    Pablo

    £170adoption fee

    Pug · 9 years 5 months · Male · Small

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

This is our wee Pablo! Pablo is a pug cross. Pablo is the best wee boy not only is he very handsome but he is also full of character! Pablo loves to get out on adventures and have lots of fun sometimes to the beach or the forest where he can sniff out what everyone has been up to. He is a very smart boy, who loves learning new things and doing some trick training here at the sanctuary, he has even learnt to crawl along on his stomach. He loves getting attention from the staff here when he asks for it as once he knows you he will happily jump up to say hello and then continue with his mischief. Pablo is desperate to find a loving forever home as he has been here at the sanctuary a very long time and although he has his family here in our dog unit staff, nothing compares to home of your own. Pablo is looking for an adult only home to allow him to be himself and grow strong bonds with his new family so that together they can go on fun adventures. He needs to be the only pet in the home and honestly you wouldn’t need any other pets if you had Pablo! Pablo although being a great wee companion for a human he strongly dislikes other canines so wouldn’t be keen on making any canine pals. He is the whole package, the real deal, just the best boy you could ask for. (Did you read the bit where we said he can crawl? How many dogs do you know who can do that? Not many I bet) Pablo does have some behavioural issues which would benefit from a home that will be willing to work with him on these and just give him the space he needs. If you think you could offer this wee cheeky chap a forever home to call his own please fill in an application form.

  • Big Max – Photo 1 of 1

    Big Max

    £170adoption fee

German Shepherd Dog (Alsatian) · 9 years 3 months · Male · Large

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

This is Max, a beautiful shepherd cross with a heart as big as his paws. He found himself back at Assisi through no fault of his own. Loved by staff both old and new, this gentle giant has charmed everyone who takes the time to earn his trust. While Max is quick to warm up to familiar faces, he can be wary of strangers – particularly men- but with patience and positive interactions he comes around. Once you’re in his circle, you’ll be greeted with bonding enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and a tongue-out grim as he races through the field like a pup, ball in mouth. On walks, Max is strong on the lead but loves a good sniff around. In his younger years, he was more reactive to dogs and strangers when out on walks, now he can cope with both at a distance and is able to glance and return to his favourite hobby – sniffing. Due to his size, strength and history, Max would need an adult-only home as well as being the only pet. He’s ready to find a home that will give him the love, stability and time he deserves. If you think you can offer this perfect boy forever home, please fill in the form below.

    Bruce

    £170adoption fee

    JRT X · 8 years 11 months · Male · Small

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

This handsome boy is Bruce, and he is your stereotypical Jack Russel. Bruce can be wary of the big wide world and finds it overwhelming at times. He much prefers quiet walks with his trusted companions and values quality time with them – once Bruce has built a bond with you, you will have a friend for life! His best friend at the Sanctuary is Tana the Shih Tzu, and they love going for quiet afternoon strolls together where they can take in the scenery and all the interesting smells. Bruce is comfortable wearing his muzzle when out on walks and can easily take treats through the gaps when working on learning new skills with the staff. In his downtime, he loves playing with toys and has become quite the collector! – he will often inspect our donation bin for more to add to his collection. He also enjoys daily naps in his comfortable bed and, like many of us, prefers to be undisturbed while sleeping. It would be beneficial to provide Bruce with a quiet area in his new home to place his bed. He is incredibly clever and loves learning new tricks! – he knows sit, paw, down, and hand touch – he has also trained people to let them know he would like attention by gently tapping you with his paw. Bruce is looking for a home that can work with some behavioural issues he has developed throughout his life due to stress and not giving him the space and time he needs. He can be quite fearful of strangers and men and will need time to come out of his shell, build confidence and trust in his new home. Do you have room in your heart and your home for a shy guy like Bruce? If so, please get in touch with us if you would like more information or fill in the application form down below.

Chase’s favourite thing is to play and destroy a squeaky toy, you can often hear squeaking coming from his kennel so we know hes having lots of fun! he is currently working on breaking the record for how many toys he can sneak into his kennel, so far he has managed 16! We tried to ask him how he did it but he was not willing to reveal his secrets. A kind volunteer who takes Chase on walks brought him a lovely toy box so now he can fit even more in! He enjoys dinning alone and sleeping alone, in fact that’s one great thing about him, he likes having his own space and is quite happy doing his own thing. He would really appreciate an owner who wouldn’t mind throwing his ball for him every now and again though. Chase loves learning and is currently working on learning a trick called “Hand Touch”. Chase is an active guy who loves long walks on the beach or quiet forest walks in the rain. His favourite thing to do is splash in muddy puddles. Chase is looking for a home with adults only, he is wary of children and finds it hard to cope in their presence. • Ollie – Photo 1 of 1

    Ollie

    Lurcher x · 1 year · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Ollie Ollie is a young Lurcher, around a year old, who is slowly discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. When Ollie first arrived in our care alongside his brother Stan, he was extremely frightened and unsure of everything around him. He clearly hadn’t had the best start in life, but with patience, kindness, and understanding, we’re beginning to see the wonderful dog hidden beneath his worries. Ollie can be nervous and skittish when meeting new people and experiencing new situations, but once he learns to trust you, he is a sweet-natured, gentle boy who will give you his whole heart. Building that trust takes time, but the reward is a loyal and devoted companion. He is making great progress and is learning to walk nicely on the lead, growing in confidence every day. Ollie could happily share his home with another dog, and we feel he would particularly benefit from living with a calm, confident female dog who could help show him the ropes and teach him that life can be fun and safe. Ollie is looking for a quiet, settled home with children aged 12 years and over who are dog-savvy and able to understand when he needs a little space and reassurance. His new family will need to be patient and willing to let him settle at his own pace. For someone prepared to invest the time and understanding he deserves, Ollie will be an incredibly rewarding companion and a very special friend.

  • Dorothy – Photo 1 of 2

    Dorothy

    Dog · 6 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Dorothy is a 6-year-old pointer cross looking for a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe and settled. She is very much an indoor dog who loves comfort and being close to her people. Dorothy is an extremely sociable girl who enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with canine companions and plenty of open space to explore. Dorothy can find busy environments overwhelming, particularly heavy traffic, busy roads and loud surroundings, so she is looking for a peaceful, quieter lifestyle. She absolutely enjoys walks in forests, along rivers, on beaches and in open spaces where she feels relaxed and comfortable. She is good with children, however we feel an older, calmer home would suit her best where her boundaries and need for peace can be respected. An ideal home for Dorothy could be somewhere rural or semi-rural, perhaps with a secure garden, open land or even a farm-style environment where she can enjoy life at a gentler pace alongside other dogs. She is a lovely, affectionate girl who simply needs the right environment to truly flourish

    Frank

    £200adoption fee

    Cockapoo · 6 years · Male

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

🏠 Rehoming Frank: Your Future Furry Companion! 🐾 Meet Frank, the lovable 6-year-old Cockapoo! Frank is a wonderful blend of Cocker Spaniel and Poodle, bringing with him an array of delightful traits that make him a fantastic companion. Known for their friendly and affectionate nature, Cockapoos are energetic, intelligent, and eager to please. Frank exemplifies these qualities, but he also has some unique needs that require an experienced owner. About Frank: - Age: 6 years - Health: Neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated - Living Situation: Frank can coexist with other dogs after a successful introduction, but he would thrive best in a home without children. - Behaviour: Frank has some guarding issues, so we’re seeking a home with experience in managing this behaviour. We’ll discuss strategies for this during a meet-and-greet. Here are some important details to consider if you're thinking about welcoming Frank into your home: 1. Commitment to Training: Frank will require a dedicated owner who is willing to continue his training with a specified trainer. This is crucial for his development and confidence. The trainer has a proven method that has worked well with Frank, and their guidance will be invaluable in helping him adapt to his new environment. 2. Building Trust: Frank is a sensitive soul who needs time and patience to build trust. He thrives on positive reinforcement and gentle interactions. It’s essential that his new owner understands the importance of creating a safe space for him to feel comfortable and secure. 3. Understanding His Past: We believe Frank may have had experiences he would rather forget. Dogs have incredible memories, and it can take a long time for them to adjust to new situations. Patience will be key in helping him overcome any past traumas and allowing him to feel at home. 4. Personalised Training Approach: Our trainer will begin with an onsite visit to your home, allowing them to assess Frank’s needs in a familiar environment. Following this visit, there will be ongoing sessions with the trainer to ensure that both you and Frank are supported throughout the training process. This tailored approach will help establish a strong bond and set the foundation for a successful partnership. If you believe you can provide the loving and understanding home that Frank deserves, please submit an application online. We’re excited to find him the perfect match! Thank you for considering giving Frank another chance at a happy life! 🐶❤️

    Staffy cross · 12 years · Female

    Co. Down, Northern Ireland

Meet Smokey Smokey is a young Staffy cross with the most stunning brindle markings and an equally beautiful spirit. When she first arrived with us a few weeks ago, she was terrified of the world and unsure of everyone around her. Since then, we’ve had the joy of watching her blossom into a happy, confident girl — and it has been truly wonderful to see. Smokey is fine when out and about with other dogs, but she would prefer to be the only dog in the home where she can enjoy all the love and attention to herself. Sadly, she cannot live with cats. We are looking for a home with dog-savvy children aged 12 plus who will understand her lively, bouncy nature. Smokey is strong on the lead, so an active home with someone willing to continue her training would be ideal. A secure garden where she can have a good run around and burn off some energy before walks would really benefit this fun-loving girl. Smokey has come on so far already and now needs a loving home where she can continue to thrive.

Myla is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped, making her ready to start her new journey with you.
