    Unnamed Musk turtle

    Musk turtle · Female

    Co. Mayo, Ireland

This little Musk Turtle has now arrived into rescue. In the UK we took in hundreds of turtles over the years - red eared sliders, yellow bellies, soft shelled turtles, Chinese turtles, musk turtles and at one stage a snapping turtle (although that particular turtle had to go to a specialist as he was very dangerous to handle). In Ireland it is much rarer to be asked to take them and we've only been asked to take two in nearly 8 years. This one was owned for 5 years until the owners got bored and gave her away. She then stayed at another home until the child got bored after 6 years. And now she is here. We will never get bored of her but will try to find her a nice responsible home who appreciate what they have. She cannot live with my two because they like a deep water environment. Musk Turtles are prone to drowning in deep water so they have to have a shallow water environment. Turtles are a long term commitment. Musk turtles can live up to 50 years in captivity so they have to have extremely committed owners. My own turtles are around about that age now and I hope to have many more years with them.

    Bertie and Bailey

    Harlequin Lop and Dwarf Lop

    Co. Mayo, Ireland

Here is Strawberry Shortcake (Shortie). She is the heavily pregnant cat who arrived unexpectedly yesterday. I don't like having cats in crates but we are packed out here so she is in a very large crate which actually makes it far more cosy for the kittens when they arrive. She is also warm and safe as her kittens will be. She is eating well and has accepted that a duvet isn't a bad deal really and even though feral is extremely clean and uses her litter box. We also do small pet rescue here too and the two bunnies were picked up in seperate parts of Mayo as unclaimed strays, were both neutered and paired up. The Harlequin Lop is called Bertie and his wife the Dwarf Lop is called Bailey. Rabbits are sociable animals and should never live alone. They are all castrated or spayed before they leave here. They are very bonded and can only go as a pair and into an environment bigger than they have now because a hutch is not enough! Please support our work if you can. All donations go directly to the care of the animals. Thank you paypal.me/FurryFriends1991
